Congrats to A. Schuldt for his conference POW award.  It was going to be interesting to see who got it between him and P-State's Tyler Greene.

On Friday Schuldt went 7 innings, 3 hits, 2 walks, 14 K's and 0 ER against P-State.

On Saturday Greene went 7 innings, 6 hits, 0 walks, 6 K's and 0 ER against Cortland.

Same innings, similar WHIP's for both, the strikeouts give the advantage to Schuldt.  Which is more impressive, shutting out Cortland's lineup or shutting out the Cardinals lineup (which everyone has been shutting down lately)?

Fisher 4, Cortland 3 ...........interesting to say the least .....

SJF scores two in the second off A. Schuldt, and adds another off him in the fifth for 3-0 lead. Corts make it 3-1 in the seventh, 3-2 in the top of the eighth before SJF gets decisive score in its eighth on infield single, bunt, wild pitch and two out misplayed swinging third strike on which catcher errs .....run scores ....4-2. T. Sylvester relieves J. D'Amato (8 inn, 5h, 4bb, 8k) in the ninth and loads the bases on three hits and one out. Records strikeout, then walks home third run. Game ends on fly to center. Schuldt works six frames for CSt.

Cortland   3-8-4
Fisher      4-6-1

Tyler Greene shutting out Cortland's high powered lineup should have won POW award. Red Dragons average over 8 runs per game and hadn't been shut out all year. There's a good chance they won't get shut out again ths year. Greene's performance was considerably harder to pull off than Aaron Schuldt shutting out Plattsburgh's offensively challenged lineup. Card's only averaging 2.1 runs per game since returning from Florida.

SUNYAC missed the boat on POW selection this time. :P

Big weekend for Oneonta and New Paltz.  After almost stupidly ruining their own field, New Paltz looks to make a jump in the standings.  Many were doubtful of Oneonta pre-season with all the off-season drama but they look good to this point.  Should be a great series.

Btw, whats up in Cortland land? They don't seem as polished as usual. Same can be said for the guys from Brockport.  Is plattsburgh really that good? Don't think so. Next 3 weeks should be fun to watch!

Great point about those two teams, the next few weeks should answer a lot of questions.

Nothing wrong with Cortland that a bit of clutch hitting wouldn't cure. Just don't get the big hit to back up a darn good pitching staff. And the defense,  which generally has been okay, simply didn't get it done at Fisher. All four SJF runs unearned  ...........RDragons left 11 on base.

St. Joe's, LI   0-6-3
Cortland       14-17-0

M. Hughes (4-2) notches mound victory. Over six innings he yields four hits, walks one, fans five. Corts score five in the first to clip Golden Eagles who came to Wallace Field 14-10 and winner of seven of last eight. Teams play two tomorrow

Five players lead Cortland barrage ......M. Rosing 2x3, 2r, bi; T. Panetta 2x3, 2r, 2bi; A. Pezutto 2x3, 2r, 2bi; Z. Graczyk 2x2, bi; B. Mistretta 2x3, r, 2bi. Hughes and two relievers combine for the shutout as RDragons' log 18-7-1
Corts post five runs in the opening stanza. M. June doubles home the first, Rosing adds RBI single, Pezzuto a two RBI single and Mistretta an RBI single

Oneonta 11, New Paltz 7

Oswego 5, Brockport 1

One correction jdex:
Cortland and St. Joe's play one game on Saturday.

Never one to doubt Cortland, was just curious as to why they're not 26-0 at this point.  Days like today proves how good they really are.  But now Oswego over Brockport? Still have questions about Brockport.  New Paltz couldn't beat Yeshiva today if they had to. 5 recorded errors, 2 or 3 other questionable plays. Scored 5 of their 7 runs in 9th off very weak bullpen. Tyson pitched better than numbers show. 8inn 10h 3r 3er 0bb 1k .. Tomorrow should be fun with Chismar on the mound for New Paltz.  Just another day in the SUNYAC ..

Cortland topples St. Joe's, LI 8-3 as M. LaTempa goes 4x4, scores three runs and drives in four, pokes pair of doubles. RDragons score three in the first, two in the second. Joe's within 5-3 before three-run CSt sixth in which LaTempa two-bagger plates two. M. June 2x5, 2r. R. Angelucci with pitching win. Starter goes 5 innings, walks five, strikes out four. Five relievers finish the job.

St. Joe's     3-8-2
Cortland     8-11-0

Corts 26-0???? Get real. Should they throw out their top pitchers every time out, we're sure more wins would come their way. Relief work has been shaky ......along with previously mentioned clutch hitting. A very good club. At Rochester and home to Ithaca next week

I think both Brockport and New Paltz were hoping for breakout years this season after building on some success the past few years.  Neither has been able to play with much consistency, but the season isn't over yet.
