With one regular season conference game of consequence remaining -- Sunday's New Paltz scrap at Plattsburgh, three teams are bidding for fourth and final spot in next week's playoff picture at Cortland. Plattsburgh, whose 18th year coach Kris Doorey earns his 300th program win today, claims postseason slot with Sunday win. Otherwise, Plattsburgh, Brockport and Oneonta wind up tied requiring tie-breaking measures.

Cortland soundly defeats Brockport twice Saturday, 18-3 in the seven-inning first game and 11-4 in the second game in which CSter C. BeVard has two inside-the-park home runs in the same inning at URochester. Winning streak reaches 11 as RDragons complete 18-0 regular season conference record. Defeat Port 6-2 Thursday in series start in Newark NY
First Game: RDragons score 18 runs in five of the first six innings and take full advantage of six Brockport errors. Lefty M. Valen WP (7-0, 5inn, 2h, 1r, 1er, 0bb, 6k). Sign of things to come when first two Cortland batters reach on errors. W. Myers drives home two with single, one of four hits in the opening inning. Dragons finish their run-making in the sixth with six on seven hits including P. Franzese and C. BeVard two-run homers, Franzese's to left-center, BeVard's to right. Corts with seven extra base blows among 18 total hits. J. Varian 3x4, r, 3bi, 3bh, sb; Myers 2x2, 3r, 2bi, 2bb; BeVard 2h, 3r, 3bi, 3bh, hr; D. Coleman 2x3, bb; M. Perivolaris 2bi. T. McCarthy LP (.1inn, 4h, 5r, 3er). Eagles use seven hurlers. Corts 18-18-1, Bport 3-4-6
Second Game: Cortland goes on nine-run tear in the third inning after Eagles get Dragons' attention with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. BeVard belts inside-the-park home run pair in the nine-run eruption. Circles the basepaths with clout to center, then slugs homer to right-center. S. Kippen triple cashes in two more runs in the inning when Cortland sends 13 to the plate. Reliever J. Casey (WP, 5.2inn, 1h, 1r, 1er, 2bb, 6k) and closer N. Morena (2.1inn, 1h, 1bb, 4k) put clamps on the Eagles -- save T. Kretzler second home run of the day. BeVard winds up 4x4, 3r, 3bi, 2 hr, 2sb, hbp and has 4 hr in series; Kippen 2x5, r, 2bi, 3bh. Kretzler and A. Cook each drive in two Bport runs. Starter B. Greenspan LP (2.2inn, 8h, 8r, 2er, 2bb, 3k). Corts 11-12-2, Bport 4-4-1
    Cortland 18-0, 29-9-1. Brockport 6-12, 14-19

Caz Bombers

with rain in the forecast and the games having no effect whatsoever on the standings, I wonder if Fredonia and Oswego will even bother making the drive down to Endwell.

New Paltz at Plattsburgh finale, Cardinals in with a win or a rainout. Hawks can send Oneonta to Cortland in Plattsburgh's place.

It must be killing Joe Brown to end his regular season with only 39 games played instead of the max 40. Had Utica scheduled for Tuesday but the Pioneers needed that day to make up E8 games.

Two in inside the park hr in an inning is special.  Might be the hardest feat to do.  Surprisingly, 3 assists in an inning is not that common, happening once every 500 innings.

Oswego wears conference tourney crown with 11-7 beating of Cortland at the latter's Wallace Field. Lakers win three straight games as the second seed and topple top seed and regular season 'YAC unbeaten RDragons. Is third straight tourney title for Lakers.
          Lefty B. Nolan WP (6-1, 7inn, 6h, 6r, 6er, 1bb, 7k, 94p) rewarded by Laker offensive punch. P. Tammaro two-out two-run homer to left in the sixth on heels of R.
