Cortland's game against Mary Washington was cancelled because of snow. Weather's pretty awful here in the Commonwealth today and up-and-down the southern portion of the eastern seaboard.

Cortland's game against Hampden-Sydney is a re-match of a game from the Division III World Series a few short years ago.

thanks for the update... with it being said that Dougher and Jweid pitched so well, I just wondred how they gave up 7 runs (6 in one inning).  Wonder if the two guys who came in and struggled were freshman?  they have four lefties in the bull pen (besides)Jweid), two freshman and a sophopmore (Limbach who didn't pitch for them last year), and Hopper who is experienced and is most likely a starter.

Wonder who it was...

Cortland, ranked sixth nationally, opened its season with a 13-7 win at Hampden-Sydney (Va.) and a 9-4 win over Richard Stockton (N.J.) on Saturday in Virginia. Jimmy Dougher allowed five hits and one walk in five innings for the win vs. Hampden-Sydney. George Jweid pitched three innings for the save. Matt Vitalone went 3-for-5 with a double, triple and two RBI, Travis Robinson was 3-for-6 and Mike Zaccardo and Dan Maycock each hit two doubles. Mike Zgorzelski pitched five innings of six-hit ball for the win vs. Richard Stockton. Maycock went 3-for-5 and Robinson 2-for-5.

Matt Tone freshman lefty finished game 2 and did a fabulous job!  Hooper is recovery from surgery from the end of last summer.  Will most likely be ready for Florida in a couple weeks!

i guess my prediction of new paltz in the #4 spot was a little too much.....it is early still but losing 24-9 on opening day....they must have a jv pitching and playing in the field for them. I still wont give up on them yet.....things may turn around....but they got to find a way to win some close ballgames.

i noticed cortland had their boxscores posted from over the weekend....noticed basnight penciled in that leadoff spot....I guess the NCAA grants extra years of eligibility now to whoever wants one.....so if anyone is reading this and wants another year to play college baseball just let the NCAA know I guess they dont check into this kind of stuff anymore

Dr. Baseball, you need to seriously get over the Basnight thing.  Your deal is starting to get old and you're really making it apparent that this situation has really struck nerve with you in some way.  As I stated before, I seriously doubt that Cortland would play a young man who didn't have his situation straightened out by the NCAA.  You don't know all the facts surrounding his situation at  Bonaventure and until you actually know your facts then I think you should knock off being such a wise guy.  You talk about my comments, you truly are being a hypocrite.  Quite a compliment though to the Basnight kid if he's that threatening to whoever you support in the conference.

basnight isnt going to matter anyway...cortland isnt going to be able to get past ithaca.  cortlands pitching is whats going to keep them in games.  the loss of groff mead piovesan and ensel are going to hurt more than anyone thinks...

this will be cortlands last chance to go for a world series for a while when they lose dougher, basnight, coromatto, robinson, maycock and whoever else.

personally I dont support any one team in this conference....I do pull for the underdog though.  Ive asked a number of times who people think are the favorites in the conference, who people think are the preseason all-Sunyac predictions.....you havent provided your insight. You just call me out on for expressing my thoughts. Who are you to tell me I dont know all the facts....you dont know what i know and dont know. Im not an expert, but ive provided more insights and thoughts about the sunyac conference than just about anyone on here. Im being a hypocrite for talking about your comments??....I never came on here calling out people for stating their thoughts, I was only defending myself for your comments expressed toward me.

I agree with you for once Spree, Ithaca is gonna be awesome!  Cortland is terrible this year because they lost the guys you mentioned and will probably come in like third place next year in the SUNYAC's because they will lose so much next year and they have a very difficult time getting talented players year in and year out.  With Ithaca's dominance over the past decade, they are a sure bet to go the the World Series and compete for a national championship.  I don't know if I have ever seen such a loaded team on paper such as Ithaca's roster for this year.  Give them the crown right now!  Go Bombers!

i wouldnt say cortland has trouble getting players by any means...but losing so much all at once will be hard to deal with...they will be very inexperienced and i dont know know if they will be able to over come all of their losses next year to be a legitamite threat
