Mac,
Braved the chilly, northerly breezes through 'Sparkland' for a spell

sjfcards

Anybody else think that C-state should be number 1 in the country...they have been pretty impressive.
GO FISHER!!!

Cortland third in latest poll, Bport 22nd. They tangle in Saturday twinbill at the Port. Corts host Fredonia Sunday

Brown's not putting too much into 14-0 ignition. "It's how you  play that matters. You could go 32-0 and lose your last game, and that's no fun. It's all in the process .... if we go 20-20 and still make it to the World Series. I'll take it."

NY rankings:
Corts, RPI (13th natl), Bport, IC (natl hm), Pburgh (12-2), Oneonta (9-1), RIT, SL

Rankings are suspect at best, a bunch of people that haven't seen everybody play trying to determine the best teams! Guys trying to describe the whole having only seen small parts. Unless u have seen everybody in the country play(nobody has), very hard to determine! U will know who the best 8 teams are come late may/ early june. Cortland may deserve the #1 ranking but doesn't matter any how. You got to win the games that count down the stretch, this isn't a sprint it is a marathon.

Cortland - Brockport this weekend @ Brockport.... Should be interesting!
Any predictions?
In sports it's not how you start, its how you finish!

Poll-picking just so very subjective at III level, no doubt about it. Unless early spring meetings in the south, or World Series, inter-regional play indeed rare. Still, polls pose good debates.
Just released poll has Otterbein, Oh. falling from 1 to 27, new 1 Wooster, Oh. advancing from 15. Wooster and Cortland each with three No. 1 votes, second ranked Chapman, Ca. with two

Bob Maxwell

What is in this poll is more accurate then what was in the preseason poll... anyone who was in the discussion about the preseason poll knows that it was all on paper speculation.  At least this one has some on the field games to reference it too.  Also, I think that the people who do any poll should be commended as they do their best... and while they haven't seen everyone, they have talked with people who have seen other teams and weighed a lot of information.

Polls are always a little suspect at any level for that reason... but they are a guideline.  Jdex said it in one of his posts.  Its where you are at the end of the season, not now...  something like taking it being 20-20 and getting the the series for a chance to compete to win it all.

Coference play starts today, so it will be fun and interesting to watch... but remember, its a long season....

hope we can play all weekend... but it looks like rain on Sunday...

So much for cortland running the table huh boys...looks like brockport might be the real deal...

How about the work of Jake Dennstedt so far this year.  33IP and only 3 ER.  Looks like the hype for the Cortland pitching staff should have gone to Dennstedt and Maxwell.

SUNYACs might just have to go through Clark V Whited this year.

Bob....

Thanks for the update, and conratulations to Rob.

Not being from your area as you know, I still find it interesting that the old cliche, "any given team on any day, can beat any other team."

Not taking anything away from the Cortland team, I just find it amusing that with all sorts of hype, you never know what is going to happen until the players finish the game(s).  I'm sure that tomorrow, or the next day, or next week the results can be different.  It must have been really good baseball being played by two of the nations top teams.

Best of luck tomorrow, and to the Cortland team as well.  Don't you just love rivalries????

Cortland's going to have to run the table and hope Brockport stumbles against Plattsburgh and Oneonta.

Certainly not a death blow for Cortland to be swept today. Nothing wrong with going on the road in the conference tournament. If anything, they weren't going to go undefeated overall and in the conference as well. Remember, last year Cortland needed help to host the conference tournament.

For Cortland's sake from Batman Begins...

Cortland vs. Fredonia, tomorrow morning, 11AM

bportalum99

cortland did not look like a national powerhoue today!  bport dominated them in every aspect of the game.   fielding was horrible for cortland.  brockport's pitchers were 10x better than cortlands.
