Looks like IC-Cortland is delayed 20 minutes because the umps aren't there yet.  That has to be a first.

Although I was a Spring Training game two weeks ago where the HP umpire took a foul ball to the hand and had to leave.  While the 1B umpire was putting on the equipment the 2B ump told the C to squat and proceeded to call balls and strikes from behind the pitcher to avoid delay.  Maybe these two teams could just start the game out on the honor system to keep things moving along.

good win for cortland today, whoever made the point a couple pages back about the games cortland has lost over the last few years was due to errors is a great post.  i am to lazy to go back and find out but if whoever it was wants to take credit there is +k waiting for you

why is noone talking about maycocks huge power year so far?

cstate19

also whats wrong with having the tourney at wallace field every year?

Spree

i posted about the errors in the big game that doomed cortland in years past, as well as the 2nd game saturday vs Brockport.

I didnt say there was a problem with the tournament at Wallace Field.  Im just implying it would be nice to have a change of scenary.  I thought this year might be it with the Brockport sweep, but now they have lost 3 in row (2 to oswego and again today to RIT).  Talk about a major let down.  But I much rather have the SUNYACs in Cortland than having to go to Plattsburgh

cstate19

you get the +k........cortland hosting each years means that cortland keeps winning......i wouldnt mind if that never changed

maycock is having a huge power yr as of right now. when he gets it rolling, like right now he can rake from both sides of the plate. the kid is 6'7 255+, he has a decent swing. a little unorthodox but u can't teach size like he has and all it takes is a little connection and the ball jumps when he hits it. also can run, run the bases and play d pretty good for a big guy. didnt know brockport lost again today, sliding a tad bit after the cortland wins, not good for brockport!

looks like Brockport is happy with their season after beating Cortland twice.  Must have packed up their bags and went home.

Hope they can turn it around, but with only 2-3 pitchers, i dont know how it can be done.  Pretty pathetic when you turn the ball over to upperclassmen with an 8 run lead against a very weak opponent only to let it slip away.  Those guys should have easily gotten 3 outs.  Now look at whats going on.  End up getting swept and then beat by RIT (who is more respectable than Oswego, but should not beat Brockport by any means).

Someone on that pitching staff needs to step up if they want to get anywhere.

Bob Maxwell

It has been an up and down week for Brockport...  but I am sure that they will right the ship and move forward.  They are too good not to have that happen.

you would think it would be that easy to just get three outs, but it happened... and things like that do happen more then we would imagine.  That is why we keep playing the games year after year... to try to get it perfect!

Don't get too high after a win, or too low after a loss... as there is another game tomorrow.

It looks like a good game between Ithaca and Cortland... was anyone at it who can give some information other then numbers?

fieldofdreams

Was at the game and Freshman Matt Tone started for Cortland and was great through 5 innings.  Ithaca had some bad breaks in terms of fielding.  Things you just wouldn't expect to happen but do in this amazing game of baseball.

Maycock's grand slam was the highlight of the game!!

Bob Maxwell

Thanks for the update... Maycock is having a great year.  I can only imagine that he is a scarey hitter to face.  And with Zaccardo in the lineup behind him, he gets pitched too.

Wonder if any baseball will be played until next week... forecast looks, cold and wet (possibility of snow on Thursday and Friday?

scuba16

BOB,
looks like there won't be any baseball played around ny for awhile, weather is supposed to be wet and cold till next tuesday. it will be earmuff weather! maycock, zaccardo, and travis robinson are pretty good 3 to have in a row in any lineup!

Yes they are... a real challenge for any pitcher to get through without getting hurt.

I will be OK, I haven't packed away my parka yet... I just have to find my umbrella... I know I left it here somewhere...

brrr...
