I believe the Z is not silent

Z-gorz-el-ski

John McGraw

I was told the Z was silent. Though, I only did a few games that Mike pitched.

Obbviously Cortland and Brockport will be 1 and 2 (could go either way as to which team will be #1)... #3 looks like Oneonta, but the #4, which many would expect to be Plattsburgh, may very well be New Paltz..... anyone else feel that new paltz has a legit shot at making the conf. tourny?

A couple of small notes:

1) John McGraw is correct - the first "Z" in Zgorzelski is silent, so it's Gore-zell-ski.

2) Centenary is actually 14-7 now, not 13-6. They split a doubleheader Monday vs. Mt. St. Vincent, but the results weren't posted online immediately. As a personal note, I won't be surprised if Centenary wins the Skyline Conference again this year, based I what I saw yesterday. They hit the ball very well.

Thanks!  That is almost like an unlisted telephone number in the directory.

Only those who know how to find you can! :)

I still assume that "Z" is a common nickname for this family.

With all the crazy weather how in the world are all of the sunyac games going to get played before the sunyac tournament? It will be interesting to see if all the teams get all of their league games played!
In sports it's not how you start, its how you finish!

Now that we've figured out how to say the name Zgorselski... can someone help me with the pronounciation of Jweid?

I've heard it said a dozen different ways...

I am guessing that some of the games may need to be played the week before the tournament.... UNLESS the weather all of a sudden changes for the better.

And who can forget the Red Dragons' incomparable star receiver of yesteryear ..........Frank Z-gor-o-les-ski. Once snagged 16 passes (school record) in a game

Actually, he dropped the `Z' and went just by Goroleski ......

Another famous name of yore was heard last night in Cornell's closing seconds lacrosse win over Syracuse .........John Espey sticking for Big Red. Assume he's kin to former CState lax star of the same name. Believe the latter coaches (is coaching) collegiately downstate, right Fran?

John McGraw

Bob,

I believe it's pronounced Juh-weed, though I could be wrong.
