thanks einstein, I realize the way you would like a team to play but the fact remains ur dealing with college kids not professional men so they don't always "come out" the way YOU want them too. mental motivation goes along way and playing behind your #1 is pretty good mental motivation!
got any more questions you want answered about playing or coaching baseball, ask and i'll fill you in. that cstate19 must have been your # on the throw away jersey that parge gave you or the intramural broomeball championship squad at cortland, obviously not the college baseball team that i played for!

If you will gladly check a couple pages back I allready made the point that college kids do not always come to play everyday.  I guess you can be Carlos Mencia and I will be Joe Rogan since you are stealing my material.  Congratulations on playing college baseball.  I did not know that a simple comment would make you go home and kick your dog.  If Joe Torre gets fired this season I assume you will get the job since apparently you know everything and there are no other opinions.  My point was that not all college kids can come out mentally strong everyday.  This is what seperates the championship teams from the others.  This was also my point since I think Cortland will win the SUNYACs that they could afford to save their #1 since they would play mentally tough behind anyone.

P.S.  Once again, congratulations on playing college baseball.

It's not going to work you two... we won't be distrcted from the tournament because of your arguement.

I am not arguing with anyone.  I was simply letting scuba know that there is more then one point of view.  Also, I was congratulating him on playing college baseball.

Bit of a surprise at the SUNYAC tournament in Cortland

Bottom 5
Plattsburgh 5 Brockport 5

*The Cardinals scored three runs in the fourth inning and knocked Brockport starter Casey Scott from the game.

*As I was typing 5-2 Plattsburgh, the Golden Eagles ripped off three runs on a sac fly by SUNYAC tournament stud Mike Avery and a RBI single by Anthony Shallo that brought home two runs, one by the single, the other by a Plattsburgh error.

John McGraw

Top 6
Plattsburgh 7 Brockport 5

*Matt Dahlin smacked a two-run home run to give the Cards the lead back

FINAL

Brockport 8 Plattsburgh 7 (10)

*Tim Wilson smacked a game-tying two-run home run in the ninth inning. At the time, Plattsburgh was two outs away from the win.

*Brockport scored the game-winning run on a dropped fly ball in the 10th inning with two outs. The Golden Eagles rally started after the first two batters of the inning were retired.

*Game featured 27 combined hits (13 Platty, 14 Brock) and six errors; four committed by Plattsburgh

*Brockport plays Cortland/Oneonta winner tomorrow. Plattsburgh will go eat and then play the loser of Cortland/Oneonta later today.

*Plattsburgh's pitching might be spent. Matt Kelley started and pitched over six innings. Matt Dahlin then pitched the rest of the way. Tough gamble to lose.

*Thanks goes to Cortland SID Fran Elia for the updates.

hey cstate19, what did you play that gives you any insight to make comments on this informative d-3 baseball board? stole your material, doubtful. anyhoo, if ya like getting it handed to you while talking baseball, keep bringing up stuff and I'll glady take your comments, uninformed baseball knowledge and straighten you out.
no problem. by the way, dougher, cortlands #1 threw 8 strong innings today and cortland won 11-0. so much for the way, in your infinite baseball knowledge would do things!

-K for getting the score wrong.  :)

FINAL

Cortland 12 Oneonta 0

*Dougher tossed a complete-game, two-hit shutout. He struck out nine and walked one.

*Mike Zaccardo and Matt Vitalone each had two RBI. Anthony Coromato had three hits and Jimmy "Dy-no-mite" Basnight had two hits and two runs.

*Cortland vs. Brockport tomorrow at 12:00 p.m.

FINAL

Oneonta 15 Plattsburgh 3

*Brandon Galutz smacked a couple of homers for O-State. Clearly Plattsburgh was emotionally spent from losing the 10:00 a.m. game. Unfortunately, its two and out again for the Cardinals.

*Oneonta will play the loser of the Cortland/Brockport game tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. or somewhere around then

John,
Yes, Bport's Mike Avery certainly seems to rise to SUNYAC Tourney occasion, and for good reason -- probably the same for Oneonta's Brandon Galutz. With Cortland hosting the event .......again. Both in homecomings .....again. They were high school standouts in Cortland. Avery came of age as tourney frosh a year ago. Am sure you're aware

Yes, Dougher threw a great game.  I do not recall saying he wouldn't.  I do recall the debate about which game he pitch a gem in.   If you really want my baseball resume let me know and I will fax it to you.  All I was saying was that there are more then two ways to manage a baseball team.  Just because you played college baseball does not mean you know all.  I easily could have played at certain schools and said I played "college baseball".  If you want to talk baseball you are more then welcome to private message me and we can share our opinions on anything from High School baseball to MLB.  I ask you who might be better equiped to manage a baseball team, the amazing athelete in CF who has the speed to make up for his mistakes or the benchwarmer who sits and watches the whole game and studies everything, picking up tendencies.  I never said you were right or wrong, all I said was that there is a different opion and you flew off the handlebar.  I have learned my lesson on these boards about getting into personal debates and it is just not worth it.  As for repeating what I said, it is not doubtful, all you have to do is scroll back a couple of pages.

FINAL

Cortland 5 Brockport 4

*Brockport is playing Oneonta State right now. The winner will advance to tomorrow's championship round to meet Cortland

*Brockport lost the winners bracket final to Cortland in 2004, then defeated Oneonta and Cortland twice to win the SUNYAC championship.

More to come

FINAL

Oneonta 6 Brockport 4

*Brockport is eliminated. Oneonta will play Cortland tomorrow in the championship round at noon.

*Oneonta used a four-run fourth to turn a one-run lead into a five-run lead.

*Brockport rallied against Oneonta starter Mike Myrdycz in fifth inning to get within two runs at 6-4. Don Lawrence came in from the Oneonta bullpen and shut down the Golden Eagles over the final 4.2 innings. He allowed one hit and struck out six.

*Brockport reliever Dan Ferraro pitched 5.1 scoreless innings from the bullpen and struck out five in relief of Rob Maxwell. Maxwell was shelled for six runs on ten hits.

*Brandon Galutz, the former Cortland Purple Tiger, went 3-for-3 with two RBI, two runs scored and two doubles. He's been a stud in both Oneonta wins.

End 1

Oneonta 3 Cortland 1

*Zgorzelski couldn't find the plate and loaded the bases on a hit and two walks. Back-to-back errors by Matt Vitalone allow three O-State runs to score, all unearned.

*Oneonta runs out of the inning as a runner tries to score on a wild pitch but is called out at the plate.

*Cortland gets one run back on a RBI single by the "Mohawk Valley Mauler" Dan Maycock.

*Vitalone is called out on strikes to end the inning. Tough frame for him.

Bottom 5

Oneonta 4 Cortland 4

*Joey "Whoa" Russo with a RBI double to get C-State within one. Russo scores on a wild pitch to tie the game.

Entering Bottom 6

Oneonta 4 Cortland 4

*Oneonta State stranded the bases loaded in the top of the sixth. Zgorzelski was taken out in favor of Nick Baker. Baker puts out the fire with a strikeout to end the inning.
