John......

Well said!!!!  By the way, isn't there some sort of historical document that says something like....."yeh living without sin, let them cast the first stone."   ;)

Brockport's Mike Avery got screwed.  He should have been 1st Team All Conference.  He carried Brockport's offense all season.  He was their only consistent hitter all season long and should have been rewarded accordingly.

Theres no way Perogi from Oswego or Jansen from Fredonia should be on the 1st team over Avery.  Avery almost had more hits (54; which may be or is the school record) than Perioli had at bats (69).  Perioli only had 6 RBI all season.  Johnson only had 72 ABs in 18 starts.  Thats a joke.

If they are going by senority, thats pathetic.  Avery was one of the main reasons Brockport won as many games as they did.

The OF 1st Team all conference is a joke without Avery.

AND where is Maycock.  Are you kidding me???  HEs not even on first or 2nd team.  thats the biggest joke of them all.  I dont know how they make these selections.  Are they going just on SUNYAC numbers?  If they are thats a shame, because you left off two of the best kids in the conference.

These all conference teams arent even credible.

Yes, the coaches look at "SUNYAC only" stats when they vote on the all-conference team. While I totally don't agree with that (the stats represent less than half of most teams' seasons, compared to about two-thirds for basketball), at least the stats are consistent for each team.

Despite his great season thus far, Dan Maycock batted in the .250 range (don't remember the exact number) in SUNYAC regular-season play. I think that's what cost him a spot on the All-SUNYAC team.

We could have a potential all american (maycock) that didn't make the all sunyac team? But I do agree with fran that all sunyac is based on what you do in conference and if the stats don't support it, he shouldn't of made it. If you look at what he did in the sunyac tournament, he probably should be on that team along with matt vitalone, but again idk what vitalone did in-conference either. anyway u slice it, all conference teams are very objective and there always are disputes who should be on and not be on them.

There is a link to the conference only stats on the SUNYAC baseball page.  Go to the stats link on the baseball page, then to the "statistics for conference only games", then to the "Individual overall stats"

http://sunyac.com/baseball/07stats/LGCONF.HTM#leagp.mlb

Vitalone hit .390 (41 Ab's, 2- 2B's and 6 RBI) and fielded .983 (58 chances)...

This is a good thing for anyone named, and congratulations to all of them.  There are some guys who an arguement could be made for... but this is a tough thing to do as you tend to look at how they played agasint your team, and it isn't always the same.

Bob Maxwell

Looks like this board is in hybernation until at least the regionals start... and then hopefully we will have at least 2 teams to discuss.

If there isn't much that will come up other then some scores, I just want to say its been a lot of fun following the SUNYAC season on here and thanks to everyone who participated...  Hope it is as much fun next year.

And that Brockport wins next year!   ;D

Bob Maxwell

Wow... this boar dried up   really fast.

Cortland won today agasinst Carthage; 5-2.. They stay alive to play another day.  Wonder who will pitch tomorrow?  Matt Tone?  Does anyone have an update on Bshnight and Coromato?  I see they played, but hear they are injured..

Bob Maxwell

Just checking to see if the SUNYCA board still is working... guess not much is happening now with schools, coaches or players.

Hope everyone's summer is going well!  Talk with you in the fall...

Is the rumor true about brockport head coach resigning?

Bob Maxwell

With Fall practice underway, does anyone have any information about what any of the teams look like?   Or will we have to wait until the Spring for that type of informaiton?

John McGraw

I'd say wait for spring. Most, around 95%, of schools won't post anything about baseball until January.

Bob......

I hope you had a good summer.  I followed Rob on the NYCBL website.  It was interesting to watch how the standings would change almost daily.  I don't know if my son has decided yet if he will try to stay and play next summer in the NYCBL.  He is talking about possibly doing an internship somewhere, hopefully in the Rochester area.  The wife and I were in Rochester this past weekend to watch some intrasquad games, and also watch them play against Finger Lakes CC.

I'll probably spend more time next year watching games in Rochester, and will make it a definite point to be there for the UR/Brockport game.  I've got to go now and get ready to watch the Cubs.  With them, you never know, but since Lou has been here, they really look like a contending team.  I'm still keeping my fingers crossed!!!!!!!!!!!

Boomer,

Thanks, good to hear from you... it was an interesting summer.  A lot of good baseball...  Look forward to seeing you at a game.

Scuba,

Good to hear from you too... this dry board over the summer was hard to take.   :o

Avery did transfer from Brockport... not really sure why as he had a lot of friends, his GF is still there, and it was a very late decision...  But he did leave and its his business why he left.   To my knowledge he did go to Cortland, where his family is from... and his dad works... so that makes sense.  We wish him well... and will miss his mom and dad at the games.

There will be someone to play the innings and get the AB's.    He is a good player, but life goes on...  From what I've seen in the fall, Brockport will survive.  They look pretty good to me... with a lot of young pitching and new speed.
