I don't think anybody beats cortland in sunyac play. When they can run out 3 lefties like jweid, tone and bilyck in a double dip or 3 game set, i don't see anyone coming close! Add Mattes to close,  along with Serio, Hooper, Baker, Hauck and they always have a sleeper or get a stud transfer or 2 and that = one of the best staffs in the country again! The lineup will be very good again with a ton of returners including zaccardo, coromato, gardener, vitalone, devito, caughey, giametta, and merriweather. Looks bright again in '08 for c-state returning to wisconsin. Love to hear what everyone else thinks.

i agree cortland should  be tough to beat. i was lucky enough to see them play the fall scrimmage against conrnell.   they can hit as well as pitch and looks like the recruits are ready to contribute.  cant wait for the season to begin

I've been off the boards for awhile... its great to see so many informed opinions and  new fresh posters on the board!

Thanks to all for the interesting reading...
;D

Jim, it is Tom McCormick, not Tim.  Scuba knows him and I think he said he coached him for a year in legion ball.

Also, when you tell "pitcher 21" to see the SUNY AC board, did you mean this one?

I would recommend to pitcher 21 to contact the coaches and AD's at both schools to get details of the programs.  But to give him my opinion... Brockport has been one of the top teams in the SUNYAC for the last 4 years, and has been on the fringe of the national picture for that same time frame... they have been competative but have not been able to put together a real strong top shelf winning season since 2004... they win some big games and then drop some they shouldn't lose which hurts the impact of the big wins.  They are a solid program with good athletes in it... and are to be respected when played.  Fredonia is a program that has toiled in the middle and bottom of the conference for a while... my opinion is that they are improving annually and are on the verge of breaking into the top teams in the conference and getting to a tournament.  They are a tough game when you play them and have shown the ability to beat some of the top teams annually... they have some good athletes and complete hard all the time.

But all the SUNYAC schools are still trying to catch Cortland.

Bob, I coached Tom for 4 yrs on Adrean Post. Excellent player, tough as nails but may struggle with the bat a little until he gets accustomed to college pitching. Great kid and a hard worker!

Speaking of trying to catch Cortland, I hear C-State got in some serious transfers for this spring. The Dimino kid from and his brother, supposed to be 2 studs from Finger Lakes CC, the Avery kid from brockport, who will man CF this yr, a 6'3 RHP from Farleigh Dickinson who runs it up there in the 90's named Blanco. Adding those kids to the returning players may give C-State its best chance to date at a National Championship in 2008!

Scuba16, If c-state got any of the Dimino brothers they only got one
Khyle, because Adam went to Lemoye.  8)

Adam Dimino transferred to cortland for the spring '08 semester from lemoyne. Something happened at lemoyne and he is at cortland for the upcoming season with his brother.

Adam is listed on Lemoyne's roster for 2008?

Humpster

Scuba16, I stand corrected then.

Todd Hughes, OF - isn't he the first baseman?

Junior Joe Curcio, 1B/DH, a transfer from Schenectady CC, will probably start.  With Kyle Kowalowski, (Jr., 1B/DH) and Todd Hughes (Sr., DH/1B) also returning and two outfield slots open Someone needs a new position.  All evidence points to Hughes moving to the outfield.

Cortland also has a transfer from Siena by the name of JJ Potrikus. He played for Hornell in the New York Collegiate Baseball League last summer and was listed on the Dodgers roster as playing for Cortland State.

Potrikus pitched for Siena last spring and had a double-digit ERA in nine appearances as a sophomore. As a freshmen, he was 2-0 with a 7.08 ERA and he tossed five strong innings in Siena's upset win over Tennessee.

He's originally from CNS and is part of a strong line of Northstars starters including LeMoyne's Brandon Otto and Canisius' Bryan Smith.
