I remember that last year Curry gave Brandeis a bit of grief, and they were scouting hard during the tip-off tournament. I believe (although I could be wrong) that they play similarly to UMD, so it should be a good game, However I hope/believe Brandeis will win and keep the belt.

Curry played awful in their last match-up, so we'll see which team shows up.  The problem is their big guys don't like to be physical and their guards like to be too physical, so it can create some real foul trouble at times.

Tim Jones is a legit guard though.  I honestly think he'd be getting all-region consideration if he hadn't been hurt every season.  His numbers are ok, but you have to see him play and the difference he makes to this team to really understand.

I wish I could be there to check it out, even though I'd take Brandeis by 15.

Successful title defense for Brandeis tonight.

Brandeis 78, Curry 67 Final

Next title defense:  1/7/2008 at Elms College Blazers

I just wanted to add that Rice University had no comment on the 'Deis v. Curry game last night. :D

Well, it is off to the virtual trophy shop today in order to get the words "Deis! Deis! Deis!" added in rhinestones to the b*lt.  In addition, I plan to have an imaginary replica b*lt created out of "l*ather and b*ubles".  The imaginary replica will have the "Deis! Deis! Deis!" on it, and it will also have a spinning version of the Brandeis mascot Ollie the Owl, also created out of rhinestones.   The original b*lt should be available for me to pick up on Saturday while the replica will be available by Dec. 30.

During title defenses, coach Meehan will wear the "original", while someone else will wear the "replica".  If I am not available to wear the "replica", then coach Tabb will wear the "replica", so that both will be worn at all Brandeis title defenses.  If the original changes hands, then the replica also changes hands as well.

Just Bill

Now that we have a replica we may want to keep the original under tight security in a contaminant-free environment.  Perhaps we can reveal it for 10 minutes a day, provided all witnesses wear air exchange regulation devices.

Well, I guess that game couldn't have gone any more closely to what I predicted.  Curry shot the ball well and played with Deis only to lose out because none of the CC players like to rebound.

I do suspect Brandeis will encounter more capable competition in the future, so we might see this belt change hands a few times this season.

In accordance with Just Bill's wishes, when the original b*lt comes out of the virtual trophy shop, it will head straight to a tightly secure, contaminant free environment in the metro "virtual Boston" area.  It will be transported in an armored van replicating the conditions that Just Bill specifies, under armed guard to every title defense.  Brandeis assumes all responsibility for the security of both b*lts until another team defeats the Judges to take possession.   Visitors to the environment are welcome under the conditions that Just Bill specifies, but each visitor must have written permission from the Brandeis athletic director to view the original b*lt.

The replica will stay in the "virtual trophy room" on the virtual Brandeis campus after it is made available on Dec. 30.   It will also be transported under armed guard to every title defense.

Do I need to wash my hands before I click my mouse in the virtual trophy room?

At a minimum - (virtually) boiling your hands would be better! ;D

Update on the b*lt--

The original b*lt is now being stored in a secret, contaminant-free environment somewhere within the confines of the "virtual" metro-Boston area, and the replica will be ready by Dec. 30.

Meanwhile, representatives from other UAA teams are also inquiring about the status of replica b*lts in the "likely" scenario of Brandeis losing a title defense in UAA play.  Each UAA team will be responsible for creating its own replica b*lt according to each team's wishes.  Should any replica b*lt be forced to change hands, the replicas will be surrendered to "virtual" UAA headquarters in the "virtual Rochester, NY area" so as to prevent damage.  UAA headquarters have agreed to store any replica b*lts created by teams in the UAA that do not currently possess the original Just Bill's D3 Championship b*lt.

In addition, a rule has been proposed by the UAA "virtual men's basketball committee" that states that if a UAA team in possession of the Just Bill's D3 Championship b*lt at the end of regular season play on March 1 does not get invited to the NCAA tournament, then the University Athletic Association (UAA) gains ownership of the b*lt, and the UAA automatic qualifier will defend the belt in the NCAA tournament on the UAA's behalf.  In that scenario, should the UAA automatic qualifier win the Walnut and Bronze, then that team will also win the b*lt.  Unless there are any objections from representatives of other UAA teams, then this proposal will go up for debate on Monday, January 14, 2008-- unless Elms wins on Jan. 7.  I support this proposal, as I believe that the b*lt should in all fairness be able to be held by a national champion at the end of the season.

Wow! The Judges almost needed to declare a mis-trial, but managed to slip by Elms 96-94 in OT.  The Judges hold the belt and take it into UAA play.

I would have loved to see the b*lt travel the North Atlantic Conference for a week, but I think that Amherst would have recaptured it from Elms next week.  ;)

Next title defense for Brandeis is in New York City, but unfortunately, it will not be at Madison Square Garden.  However, the Coles Center will do nicely.  :)

The original and replica b*lts are all set for travelling down "virtual I-95" to New York on Friday for Saturday's title defense against the NYU Violets.

deiscanton

The b*lts have now arrived in the virtual version of "New York City" and are being secured.

ESPNZone in the virtual version of Times Square is asking me to at least put up the replica version for display tonight-- I'm looking into it.... :)

As it is still technically spring break, and a number of Brandeis students and alumni live in the NYC area, and others are planning a bit of a "road trip" there should be a decent Brandeis contingent at the game. No fan bus like last years regular season ending game. That being said it will be quality of fans over quantity cheering on the Judges.
