As I watched the selection show I was mesmerized by the possibility of a 2nd round game of Biblical proportion for The BeltTM between Yeshiva and Nazareth.

I'm pretty sure I remember from early on in the chronicles of The BeltTM that there was a Quaker-Mennonite Battle For The BeltTM, but that might top it.

YorkPa will defend The BeltTM this weekend against the Yeshiva Maccabees.

No animals, at least not in round one, but how will these supernatural powers fare against Jewish freedom fighters?

Will the Holiday Armadillo show up?

The Maccabees defeated the Greeks, or rather the Hellenizers, occupying Israel!

I wonder if the Yorkpa cheerleaders will name-drop Antiochus Epiphanes in one of their cheers when their Laconian heroes take on the heirs of Judas Maccabeus & brothers on Friday.

Too bad the Susquehanna Crusaders(now the River Hawks) aren't part of this regional; talk about your Holy Wars.

Damn it, Sager. I don't want to have to do three separate Google searches to decipher one sentence on a Tuesday morning.

The first and still most accurate description of the D3 Championship BeltTM thread.

+1!  I thought the Sagacious Sager would know the back story on that one.   ;)

Yeshiva might not be impressed with The BeltTM, especially if they have a beautiful EphodTM which was woven out of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet threads, was made of fine linen, and was embroidered with skillful work in gold thread.   ;)

Oh, man, there's a high school in Indiana (Pendleton Heights) whose nickname is Arabians. (It's in regards to the horse, but still....)

There's also one named after hotdogs though, Frankfort.

...and another named after a popular 1920's saying "that's the berries", though more likely after actual berries from farms.

They use Felix the cat as their mascot and its everywhere, it has been added to my bucket list of must see gyms.

Comcast owns the copyright for Felix the Cat, and I've gotta think that they have an entire phalanx of weasels lined up to devour Logansport High if they ever find out about this.

Yes! Now we need The EphodTM to go with The BeltTM, should Yeshiva pull off a reprise of David vs. Goliath on Friday!

The SporranTM was child's play. Now this thread is tap-dancing on the line of sacrilege. We may have more than the WeaselsTM to worry about if this comes to pass. (Cue the picture of the melting Nazis ...)

IIRC, New Palestine was Kent Raymond's high school.
