Oh shucks!  I did not know that McMurry was playing for The BeltTM in the Elite 8 Game in the 2000 Playoffs!

With apologies to Winston Churchill:  Never in the field of D3 trivia has so much been owed by so many to so few.

You guys may not be the RAF, but good on ya. ;D

It looks like every member of the current Landmark Conference has been a holder of The Belt; can any other conference make that claim?

I've called a lot of belt games, but wasn't aware the Catholic/Hampden-Sydney second-round game was one of them!  ;D

I've got the whole Belt path copied into one document now.  I have a little formatting to do, but I'll post it later - at least through 2017.  I'll add each year at the end of the season.

Tomorrow, the women.

We should be up to date from whenever the Diva BeltTM thread started to now. I'm just hoping that 1983 will give NCC some love in that department.

Turns out in retrospect that there was a whole pile of BeltTM games that I've attended over the years, games at which I had no idea that possession of a traveling totem of supernatural powers was on the line.

I think that we can look back across the decades and call yesterday's completed chain "The BeltTM -- The Stealth Years".

Had we only known at the time, we could've had The TowelTM made for Cazzie to go with The BeltTM. (When Cazzie coached, he used to drape a towel across his shoulders during games, a la John Thompson.) Sadly, although SCAD still offers 22 sports at the NAIA level, men's basketball is no longer among them.

For me, they're tears of frustration, because we still haven't resolved the East Stroudsburg issue that kept me from finishing this project back when I first started it several years ago. But at least now we have one plausible timeline for The BeltTM laid out, so this is something that people can enjoy (weird people like you and me, that is).

East Stroudsburg '78-'79... here's what I was able to find (not sure if this gets us anywhere)...

https://static.psacsports.org/custompages/mbball/Year-by-Year%20Men's%20Basketball%20PSAC%20Champions.pdf?path=mbball

They were 4-8 in the league, 12-15 Overall

Don Bones was included in the NCAA ranking history sheet at ESU:

https://static.esuwarriors.com/custompages/MBB/PSAC%20individual%20rankings%20-%20MBB.pdf

1978-79 Scoring Don Bones t-39 19.8 points/game
FT % Don Bones 17 .854 (76 for 89)

Don Bones was Honorable Mention NABC KODAK All-America in both 1980 and 1981:

https://static.esuwarriors.com/custompages/MBB/Postseason%20Honors.pdf

Confirmed this is D-II

So in '79-'80 and '80-'81, they were D-II and in the NCAA (in some way shape or form) in '78-'79.  Is that close enough?

Back to the 2018 BeltTM Path, YorkPa just knocked off Yeshiva 81-67 and retains possession of The BeltTM.

YorkPa also avoids some not so great company in BeltTM history:

No, not really, since we're looking for the 1976-77 season. If we had an indication of D2 status for East Stroudsburg prior to that, as well as the info that we have that the Warriors were D2 subsequent to '76-'77, then we'd have pretty solid circumstantial evidence. Thanks, anyway.
