Yeah, if IWU loses to WashU, the only chance to get it back into the CCIW is 1-8 Millikin in WashU's next game.   If IWU can step up and beat the Bears (the game IS in B'town), we SHOULD beat both teams in Texas over the break, and the Titans have no more games outside the conference after that.

Now, before IWU plays WashU on the 19th, they have to go to Rock Island, so if we fall there it will be Augie's responsibility to protect The Belt^TM, and I haven't checked on their schedule.  It's good that possessing This Most Glorious Bauble is so rewarding, because the burden of protection is almost unbearable.

Augie has a couple games with Stevens Point and LaCrosse after IWU.

There was less risk of The Belt^Tm leaving the CCIW if Carthage had retained it, but then Alma beat Oshkosh and everything went haywire.

Sorry-- I thought Wash U got the Belt ^Tm on December 19 when Jack Nolan helped the Bears get the pinfall in Bloomington, IL. 97-88.  The Bears have a title defense tomorrow against Millikin.

It seems that we have a problem with the path of the Belt ^Tm .

I recognize a title change on December 19 with Wash U beating Illinois Wesleyan, 97-88, so the Belt ^Tm is actually in St. Louis now. Sac seems not to recognize it.

So it looks like barring an upset tomorrow in Decatur, The Belt^TM will be spend its January and February racking up frequent flyer miles in the UAA for the first time since 2008.

Random side note: I was dismayed to log onto my map website a week or two ago and find that I got locked out because I only got a certain number of free views and now all my work is stuck behind a paywall. Looks like I'll have to rebuild in Google Maps.

They don't seem to have a mascot, but they do have a coat of arms, which may be more intimidating in the grand scheme of things...

I get the feeling Millikin has tried a few different things to represent "Big Blue" as a living breathing mascot, this was as good as any idea.

I get the feeling Millikin has tried a few different things to represent "Big Blue" as a living breathing mascot, this was as good as any idea.

Well, it got Lori Kerans involved, which is cool.

"Big Blue" is a fun mascot as a PA guy. I always announce dead ball turnovers with a "[team nickname] ball," which for Millikin, you can imagine the fun there. Clark Teuscher once followed that up, without skipping a beat, with a joke about it that I still laugh about today.
