I went back to the archives, assuming this was the first time Millikin has held The Belt, but no.  The Big Blue defeated Carthage, but didn't make the post-season and this finished the 1979 season holding The Belt - they carried it through the offseason and gave it back to Carthage during the 1980 season.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure between the Stealth Era and the Modern Era every CCIW school has had possession at least once... except NCC. :(

Pretty great strategy by IWU.  The Titans, knowing they'd drop a game in TX and see The Belt disappear in the ASC, loan The Belt to Wash U...certain they'd get a chance to earn it back via a Big Blue win over the Bears.

That was gutsy.

The Belt hits the media...

The Pantagraph needs some lessons on the etiquette of The BeltTM before the weasels get unleashed on them!

I might need to brush up on my Comm Law, but I feel like there was something about Fair Use, and news falling into that category. At least, that's what the radio mafia taught me.

Mr. Ypsi

Much thanks to Millikin for gaining back The BeltTM in arguably the biggest upset in D3 this season.  When IWU lost to WashU, I thought The BeltTM would rotate around the UAA the rest of the season.  But now (80-71) IWU has won ItTM back, and the CCIW will almost certainly retain possession for AT LEAST the rest of the regular season.  The earth is now back on it's axis. ;D

"Almost certainly"? Uh, Chuck, non-conference play is over. Dunno why you put the "almost" in there.

2019-20  The BeltTm path

3-9-19:  UW-Oshkosh
11-19-19: Carthage
12-7-19: Illinois Wesleyan
12-19-19:  Washington U
12-31-19:  Millikin
1-4-20:  Illinois Wesleyan

Remember that time Nebraska Wesleyan held The BeltTm forever?    This is fun.  Only 6 more CCIW's to go.

Why has no one shared this before.  Old and new, left and right.

North Central hosts IWU next Wednesday night.

Because I hadn't checked the composite schedule.  I assumed someone must still have a non-con game or two.  Glad to see that The BeltTM is safely where it belongs for the remainder of the regular season.  It would be great if ItTM chose to remain in CCIW territory for the summer! ;D

After the league schedule has resumed again post-New-Year's? That very rarely happens. NPU's game early this afternoon closed it out.
