Mt. Union 83 Whitewater 79 F

Mt. Union with a huge comeback to snatch The BeltTm away from Whitewater.  The Purple Raiders will face the very impressive Captains of Christopher-Newport and The Belt Tm will spend its Summer with a new D3 National Champion or at least a new basketball National Champion.

This is Captain Chris, because of course right.

10 gajillion D3 bucks to the person who can name the actor this mascot is apparently modeled after.

This is Old Captain Chris who's a little to Wii game character for my taste

Its good for a laugh so I'll tell the story how about 12 years ago or so my neice and nephew were visiting and they dragged out the Wii.  This required the creation of a character for Uncle Sac and I sat there patiently watching them change clothes, skin tone, move my body shape about, give me glasses etc.  Then came the hair and they both simultaneously turned around to look at me, then back at each other, giggled and made my hair all gray.

Christopher Newport  74 Mt. Union 72 F

With a breathless finish and the most competitive D3 championship games since leaving Salem,  Christopher Newport will take home The BeltTm for the summer.  Newport News is nice this time of year, or pretty much all year.

Congrats to the Captains.

I'm trying to figure out a way for Finlandia to somehow wrest the BeltTM from the Captains in a C2C donnybrook before it shutters its doors as that would be the ultimate Ultimate ScenarioTM.

Has The BeltTM ever been in the same location as The Women's BeltTM? Transylvania is carrying ItTM to the women's title game against CNU on April 1st. TheyTM could have a family reunion all summer in Newport News.

Should that happen, do we have to worry about the potential for OffspringTM??

Oh my! Heavens!

I calculate a due date (9 months) into the middle of next season. Who knows? The DIVA Belt TM might end up with an obstetric complication and require prolonged bedrest. What if the Cesarean section incision knocked off a bauble?

That thought is more cataclysmic than the Kobayashi Maru scenario

A few appearances in the records that The Belt™ decided to grace us with this year:

  • Robert DiSibio of Washington & Lee scored 46 points in a Belt™ bout on 2/24/2023.  That's the most points from a single player! *
  • In the same game, Roanoke scored 117 points.  (It was a 4OT game vs. Washington & Lee).  That is the fifth most points by a team in a Belt™ bout.
  • The Belt™ changed hands 13 times during 2022-23.  That's the third most in the Modern Era and fifth most of all-time.

* - I do not have player scoring for about half of the Stealth Era games.  DiSibio is the highest scoring player among the games that I have player scoring.

And I witnessed consecutive Belt bouts @ Randolph-Macon vs Wilson, then Scranton.   8-)

Its impossible as Finlandia is closing this Spring and has ceased athletic operations as of the close of Winter athletics.  One last big FU to The BeltTm dreamers I guess.

Right brain:  <don't say it, don't even suggest it>
Left brain:  <come on man, someone might do it>
Right brain:  <I know but c'mon man its sadistic>
Left brain:  <you know one of these suckers would research it>
Right brain:  <<sigh> we're gonna say it aren't we
Left brain:  <<giggles> Yep

Has anyone ever looked into a Losers BeltTm

Yup.  I know it's impossible but am still looking for a loophole.

Well, if you want to avoid OffspringTM, then, um, you gotta keep them separated.
