There once was a BeltTM from Nantucket...
Okay, hasanova...

He has set you up!
Sorry, I haven't been in this room for about a week - didn't know I was on call.  :)

There once was a BeltTM from Willamette?
Whose prong was so long it could jam it.
And it said frame agape
As it wiped off its chape
If my bar had a beer, I could slam it!
I learned a new word.

Chape - tip of scabbard: the metal tip of a scabbard
          - tongue of buckle: the tongue of a buckle

Thanks and +1!   ;)
Thank you, Ralph - I appreciate that.  I was determined to work in a DIII reference and the four parts of a belt buckle I could identify:  the prong, the frame, the chape and the bar.   I was also determined to maintain the spirit of "There once was a man from Nantucket" yet still keep it PG-rated!  lol  :)

Chape is a good Scrabble word, but you have to be careful about having it used for chapels or chaperone or chapeaux.   ;)

(Never leave an opening for a triple word score on an 8-letter word, especially when your foe uses an "x".)

I play Scrabble from time to time, so I understand!  An opponent once left me an opportunity to use all seven letters and connect on two triple word scores simultaneously (counts as nine times, I think).  At any rate it was only a 15-point word, but netted 185 points when you multiplied by nine and added the 50 points for a bingo.  To date, I'm pretty sure it's my best single play!  One of my brothers is a PhD in theology and he's a tough one to play as well - his vocabulary makes me look like a downright neophyte!  :)

So, is he pre-ordained to win the games you play, or by grace, do you win a few?  ;)

Yeah, I suppose he is.  lol  By the grace of God, I can usually hold my own, but I'd give him a slight edge.  He's a southern Lutheran, so he can be distracted by a bowl of gumbo and a cold beer at the same time he's trying to figure out how to place lutefisk or hermeneutics!  All kidding aside, he's two years younger than me and read everything in sight growing up - guess it served him well at Guilford, UNC-CH, Duke and Cambridge.  :)

I was in a big traffic jam on I-270 in Columbus the other day........turns out the belt was making its police escort through Columbus on its way to Springfield.

It was quite a sight.

That's beautiful.

And now the BeltTM is on its way to Crawfordsville.

Fitting, since the first basketball game played outside of Massachusetts was allegedly at the old C'ville YMCA.

Imagine the fun we'll have if a Bible college or Rust ever win the thing!  :)

Oh, and the BeltTM will be in play in the post season. Kenyon plays Wabash Saturday and the Lords are locked into #8 seed in the NCAC tourney. So no matter what - the BeltTM will be on it's way to the Walnut & Bronze.

...of course if you make your way to Crawfordsville this weekend you'll get the super rare opportunity to see the Belt and the Bell in the same location.
