A whole ATN feature on Anderson and no mention of the precious Championship BeltTM that they loving polish and protect?  What would Rodney Dangerfield say about that?   ;D

He'd say, "What, Matt Florjancic, when you buy a hat like that you get a free bowl of soup, huh?"
It looks good on you, though.

Once again the D3 Championship BeltTM has moved, this time to Lexington, KY as the Transylvania Pioneers take down conference rival Anderson 80-69. The one chance The BeltTM has to leave the Heartland might be on Jan 30th when Transy travels to Wittenberg of the NCAC.  Defiance is hoping they'll get a crack at The BeltTM when they meet up with Transy on Feb 4th in a grudge match with huge conference ramifications.

Start-Dec. 19 - Washington Univ.
Dec. 20-Jan. 2 - Elmhurst
Jan. 3-Jan. 17 - Anderson
Jan. 17-Present- Transylvania

Hey! Who's running this foolishness around here!

Ah, I'm just kidding.  Thanks for keeping BeltTM fans around the world up to speed.  All six of them.

In honor of our new BeltTM holder Transylvania (Ky.), I'll offer a Karma point to whoever can connect Dracula/Bram Stoker to Horse Racing/Bluegrass Music.

Gosh the BeltTM actually gathering dust this year.  Not many changes.  Are the current holders playing with more prode or are the challengers simply blinded by the shiny baubles?

With the Transy-Witt game not being rescheduled it looks like the D3 Championship BeltTM will stay in the HCAC through the remainder of the regular season.  The Winner of the six-team HCAC tourney will carry the D3 Championship BeltTM into the post-season with pride.

Unless the BeltTM holder finishes 7th!  Then they get to carry it all the way to next season.

Possible but not likely, but yes upsets are possible.  Hanover, Mt. St. Joe and Rose-Hulman are the three teams on the outside looking in a this point.  Postponed games from last night will be played tonight and then a full slate on Saturday.

I hope we have controversy and Rose-Hulman is holding the belt and fails to qualify for the HCAC tournament.  Then we get a snappy name and can call it the 'Rose-Hulman Clause' for when a team holds the belt but misses the NCAA tournament.   Sounds very official.

I'm a bit confused though, if this does happen who holds the belt during the HCAC tournament?  The commish?, a random team?, the top seed?, last team to beat the holder?, whatever school's fraternity where its found on the floor?.

.........the belt can't be vacated for a few days can it, I mean someone has to hold the belt.

In that case, Rose-Hulman holds the BeltTM -- or Mount St. Joseph, or whichever non-HCAC-tourney team happens to be holding it when its season ends. The BeltTM begins its long off-season nap once its holder has won its last game of the year. Whether that takes place after the national championship game in Salem, or after the ECAC championship game, or after the 25th game of the year for a team that didn't make its conference tournament, doesn't matter. You can't have the BeltTM taken away by default. You can only lose it by losing a basketball game.

The grand and exalted position of Holder Of The BeltTM is never vacated. It's just that on rare occasions the BeltTM is not up for grabs during postseason play.

Yes!

The only reason I can think that the Holder of the BeltTM might be vacated would be moral turpitude.

moral turpitude?

Can a fictional belt be subjected to moral turpitude?
