The poignancy of UTD competing for the The Belt^TM cannot be understated for those of us who grew up listening to Dallas sports.

Bill Mercer is the PA announcer for UTDallas games and still instructs U North Texas students who do the web casts for UTD games.

Mr Mercer was one of the announcers of the one of the original professional wrestling groups, World Class Championship Wrestling, based in Dallas in the 1950's and 1960's. (Fritz von Erich's group of wrestlers)

Guilford carries the belt to Salem.

Sean Wallis of Washington University was asked what it was like to be returning to the Final Four in the televised post game press conference on ESPND3. His response "the heck with the Final Four we just want our belt back"
