You mean Just Bill wasn't there to make the presentation personally?  ???

Stupid interstate commerce laws, prevented me from transporting such a valuable piece of hardware across state lines.  After a long night in jail on the Indiana-Kentucky border I called an old Secret Service buddy of mine and had the BeltTM helicoptered to Stevens Point aborad Marine One.  It pays to have connections in high places.

Yep, if I hadn't seen it on C-span myself, I would never have believed it.  As Rep. David Obey D-WI (Representative from the 7th District in Wisconsin) was presiding over the House of Representatives last night, I saw him nod his head to one of his staffers, acknowledging that the appropriation to bring The BeltTM via Marine One to Stevens Point was listed on page 1092 of the Health Care Reform package.

(Just another example of pork associated with the legend of The BeltTM)

My apologies if this had already been discussed, but I'm not reading through 38 pages to find out.

How funny would it be if The Belt were to end the regular season in a conference where not everybody plays in the conference tournament, and then one of those non-qualifying teams upset The Belt holder in the last regular season game?  So The Belt never makes the trip to Salem and is put on display during the off-season at somewhere besides the NCAA Champion?

Or are there Belt By-laws or something to cover this scenario?

Had Earlham beaten Wooster on the last weekend of the regular season, that's exactly what would have happened.  However, the Quakers were 0-45 against the Scots during their 21 years in the NCAC, so The BeltTM didn't suffer the indignity of watching the NCAA D-3 Tournament by webcast in Richmond, IN.

Didn't read the previous 38 pages?  You're officially going directly to double secret probation.  I'm watching you, altor.

That scenario is kind of the Holy Grail of BeltTM-lore. That is, if the Holy Grail was covered in baubels and gewgaws and paraded around by an entourage of Hebrews, but I digress.  We know it CAN happen, we're just waiting for the day it does happen.  It's our own little armegeddon. When it happens, the Earth will open up and swallow all D-III schools whole, starting with provisional members. (Think that membership lottery wasn't important, think again.)

The day may come when the BeltTM doesn't make a trip to Salem. We'll be ready.

He's worried about it; I'm rooting for it.  That scenario makes who thing less predictable and thus more fun.

There once was a BeltTM on his acre,
It fit and he loved it, did Quaker!
For one week, it adorned him,
'Til threes rained upon 'em,
When an Eph for a day was the taker!

The Pointers and Ephs they did play,
A helluva game so they say!
The Pointers were down,
But they came around,
And hope the Belt'sTM in Wisconsin to stay!

It's almost that time. Get your polish and leather oil ready, UWSP. It's about time to bring you-know-what out of it's protective bunker.
