Crown has been effectively eliminated sitting 3 back of the last playoff spot with 4 to go.  The UMAC has moved to a 4 team playoff with no byes for the first year of the automatic bid.  But if Crown really is going to knock off Stout, they would probably return back to earth shortly thereafter and lose to Bethany Lutheran or Martin Luther.  Martin Luther would be their first game after stout; Martin Luther won't make the UMAC playoffs either, but their last game on the regular season is against my squad (Northwestern).  So basically, don't expect Crown to beat anyone from the WIAC in any game in the next decade and ignore everything I've just written.

The Belt will move west... UWP beats Whitewater 65-59

Platteville's remaining schedule:

2/12    vs. UW-Stout
2/16    at UW-Stevens Point
2/19    vs. UW-River Falls

Stout is out... they were eliminated tonight.  Stevens Point and River Falls are both in.

Should Stout beat Platteville and wrest the Belt away from the Pioneers, here's their schedule:

2/12    at UW-Platteville
2/15    vs. Crown
2/19    vs. UW-Eau Claire

That wouldn't be good... I'm not sure about the UMAC's conference tourney this year (if Crown would even be eligible), but EC is all-but-eliminated from the WIAC tourney, if they're not out already.

Are you kidding me, PS? It would be fantastic if Crown held The BeltTM going into the off-season! It's hard to think of a more unlikely place for it to rest than in the trophy case of an also-ran from a bottom-tier conference that only got an automatic bid this season. It would be madcap, hilarious, and quirkier than a three-legged dog in a greyhound race if Crown were to end the season with The BeltTM.

Now. now, don't you guys goes making fun of Crown - they won me the 'winless' contest! ;D  Go, Crown - you did your duty for me, now go seize The BeltTM! :D

People were making some disparaging comments about The Diva BeltTM and how it spent a  summer in Alpine, Texas when Sul Ross State Lady Lobos held The Diva BeltTM but did not make the ASC post-season tourney.

Getting to spend a summer in the wilderness of Big Bend National Park seems to be a wonderful thing.

Let's go Stout.  I've been rooting for this scenario since the Belt's inception.  We've never been closer to a Belt-less championship.

It's not just the idea of a Final Four without The BeltTM present in Salem that tickles my fancy. It's the idea of Crown holding The BeltTM for the entire off-season.

It would be like if Megadeth held a tryout for a new lead vocalist, and Justin Bieber won the audition.

Greg - I'm assuming that you have been reading the great turmoil in the Diva Belt room?   2 years in a row, 2003-04, and 2004-2005 the belt holder was in the ASC and DID NOT make the conference tourney...  consequently, when the Diva belt championship history was written up starting in 2005-2006 with Defending National champ Milikin holding the belt at the beginning of the season, it was in error....   you, as a hof'r, may be on the committee that will make a ruling on this unfortunate miscarriage of justice...  I'm expecting to be suppoena'd to testify.....

I'm rooting for Crown just because a school called Crown holding a belt sounds pretty awesome.

Dear Crown,

Just to be clear, in the above hypothetical, you are Justin Bieber.

Sorry, Hopefan, but at the moment I'm fixated upon the idea of The BeltTM residing in Crown's trophy case all summer long.

If Crown keeps the BeltTM in the Royal Treasury for the offseason, they and whoever wins the NCAA tournament should both be invited to Las Vegas to hold a Unification Match at the D3hoops.com Classic.

If Crown wins The BeltTM, Bill ought to create a scepter to mark the occasion.

Crown's record over the past five seasons:

2006-07  3-23
2007-08  8-20
2008-09  0-24
2009-10  4-21
2010-11 (to date)  3-17

This scenario for The BeltTM just keeps getting better and better.
