In dramatic fashion, CMS gets the D3 Championship Belt, winning 57-55 on a last second layup by Remy Pinson. What a great finish.

Mine eyes hath seen the glory of the coming of The BeltTM. 'Tis a thing to behold.  We shall treasure it.

If you thought that was dramatic, I wonder how you'll feel when Just Bill's legal team is through dealing with you for trademark infringement of The Belt.TM

They played the entire game with the D3 Championship BeltTM suspended high above a ladder. After Pinson's layup he pushed through the crowd, ascended the ladder, and claimed the prize.

At least that's what I'm told happened.

So do they need to share The BeltTM equally among the Claremont, Mudd and Scripps campuses? That kind of frequent transportation can really add to the security costs of possessing The BeltTM. Armored vehicles aren't cheap.

I don't think they have to share with Scripps. Just saying. :)

Greek Tragedy

Is The Belt TM organization insured against injuries if any occur while climbing the ladder to obtain the Holy Grail of D3 basketball?  That seems quite dangerous especially in hectic situations like last second wins?  Is The BeltTM liabel if the ladder falls on any court-rushing fan?

It's an honor to be injured in such a way.

Reading this board makes my day, night, morning, afternoon, or evening, or whatever time of day it is that I'm reading it... ;D

It's just so fun reading about the escapades of The BeltTM.

Greek Tragedy

It may be fun reading, but The BeltTM is very serious business.  ;D

I have no trouble envisioning the belt draped across these antlers

Rumor has it the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps cartel of colleges has been worried about security since acquiring The BeltTM.  Recently reports surfaced of suspicious looking men who looked way to smart to be on the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps campusi.

The also looked suspiciously like they are from the wrong decade, but its California so no one really noticed.  Mostly they just wondered where the hot chick was.

As a result of these recent sightings and knowing that those no good sciencey folk at Cal Tech would do just about anything to get their hands on the belt, CMS has taken a very bold approach to security.

.....well that's a novel idea but no not that......not that at all.

The BeltTM has been cleverly concealed inside a stag pinata.  CMS  provided this photo which they say has been doctored to look like the 1950's.

I will sleep better tonight knowing The BeltTM is in secure hands.

The BeltTM changes hands once again as Claremont-Mudd-Scripps gets taken down by the Whittier Poets 88-85 in overtime.
Apparently The BeltTM wants to be Rhymed and Dined to add to its' growing legend and figured the Poets were the best team for the job. The Stags join a growing list of teams that fail to have a single defense of their prized trophy. I have the special privlidge of winning the Survivor Undefeated Pool as my Middlebury Panthers are the last team standing. The gratitude I owe the Poets for their part in helping me achieve this lifelong ambition is immeasureable. I firmly believe that playing for first place in the SCIAC was secondary to the Poets intense desire to claim The BeltTM I'm not sure they could have pulled this off if it was just for first place. There will always be a first place to attain but the chance to possess The BeltTM may only happen once in a school's lifetime and may never hppen in a player's 4 years on the team. Congratulations to the Whittier Poets and to the undefeated Middlebury Panthers as well. They are sitting in the lovely Green Mountains of Vermont patiently waiting for their chance to play for The BeltTM. They know it will be weeks before that happens, if at all and already are studying up on The Belt'sTM lore and legend.
