Magicman,

You do realize that since the SCIAC only takes four teams to its conference tourney, your lovely band of Green Mountaineers (not to be confused with Green Mountain, of course) may not see The BeltTM if they go all the way.

I haven't bothered to check the SCIAC schedule (too many games left) to plot the odds, but if The BeltTM fails to make the tourney, please, please let it reside with Caltech for the summer!  Can the human imagination even envision the superpowers it might possess by next season? 8-)

I was really looking forward to soldering a hyphen to The BeltTM

We are just one Whittier The BeltTM defense away from Cal Tech getting to play for The BeltTM

The BeltTM changes hands once again as Claremont-Mudd-Scripps gets taken down by the Whittier Poets 88-85 in overtime.

I understand that the streets outside the Donald E. Graham Athletic Center erupted in joyous celebrations afte The BeltTM was secured.

The undefeated Middlebury Panthers remain optimistic that The BeltTM, with all the inherent mystical powers that it possesses, will simply not allow that to happen. They feel confident that should a team, such as Caltech, Laverne or any team that will miss the SCIAC playoffs, be in a position for a last second shot that might give them a victory, will find that shot mysteriously rim out. Should those teams run up a sizable lead, will find that lead magically disappearing. If a playoff bound team needs a buzzer beating three pointer to retain possession of The BeltTM, it will simply happen. The BeltTM, is not just an inanimate object. The true powers of The BeltTM are still not fully understood, even today. But rest assured, like the Ark of the Covenant, the enigmatic Spinx, and the Holy Grail before it, the sublime forces residing within The BeltTM will come forth to fulfill it's desire, to be paraded in front of the multitudes at the Salem Civic Center, come March.

Let me make this perfectly clear: Whittier intends to keep The BeltTM.

Meanwhile, the coaches and ADs of the other SCIAC schools are now sweeping their offices for hidden microphones, and recording devices.

Also, security guards have posted pictures of G. Gordon Liddy with a notation "DO NOT LET THIS MAN ENTER!"

surely with The BeltTM in the hands of the Whittier Poets we can come up with some poetic tributes.

I'll get us started........There once was a belt from Nantucket......

I can't find my book of Limericks, but IIRC lines 3 and 4 are just 5 syllables.

How about:

Began with Tommies,
By now the swamis ...

[I'd be banned for life if I finished line five! 8-)]

It couldn't begin it in North Dakota

That is not 5 syllables either.
