If all Concordia's hold The BeltTM, what happens when two Concordia's play each other?

Concordia(MI) at Concordia(WI), tonight

If the lights flicker and things go dark, hold on to your baubles.

Well my lights did flicker several times and they finally went out about 10:45  Friday night. However I don't think it was the Concordia (MI) at Concordia (WI) game that did it. I'm pretty sure it was the effects of the Concordia-Chicago at Concordia (Neb) contest (9 PM EST start) that blew some breakers as it occured just as the nonD3 Nebraska variety was putting the finishing touches on the D3 Chicago variety with a pair of free throws to make the final score 75-71. It must have been a fairly large electical conflagration as the scorekeepers from Concordia-Chicago had all kinds of problems filling out the final stats. They show the final score as 75-71. Yet the line score and play by play show the final as 75-74. Just in case none of those were right they give you a box score showing Concordia (Neb) with 75 points and Concordia-Chicago with 68 points. I'm just glad that none of the 4 Concordias that were on the floor last night actually were in possession of The BeltTM or the shock waves could have been more widespread. As it was I felt the effects all the way over here in Northern New York. Thankfully my lights were only out for several minutes, during which time I yelled at Mrs. magicman to lock her jewelry box in the safe.

Bethel 74 Carelton 73

Carleton's 3 at the buzzer to tie just falls off the rim, tip-in for the final points.  Taylor Hall with a legendary The BeltTM performance finishes with 37.

Bethel takes The BeltTM to Collegeville, MN and St. John's on Wed.

+k forever if someone can get a photo of John Gagliardi with The BeltTM

Gagliardi has belt experience.

Ralph Turner

I am confused.  That is a good photo of Gagliardi with The BeltTM, but AO craves "smites".

Do I applaud his karma or smite his karma?

Gregory Sager

Ralph, I bet he'd be tickled pink if he could get it to -888 and just have it sort of hover there. ;)

Augsburg 106 St. John's 87

In a blatant attempt to capitalize on the euphoria of Baltimore's Super Bowl victory the Augsburg SID declared the Auggies 'shot the lights out' Monday night.

Dan Kornbaum who may possess one of the greatest surnames in The BeltTM history and clearly should be playing for the Cobbers scored 27.

Transportation at Augusburg is a little more advanced than most places, I hear tuition is outrageous.

Next The BeltTm contest is Wed. when Carleton attempts to take it for a 2nd time.

This is what I get when I google Auggies.......its not what I expected either.

This is awesome.....

106 might be the highest score ever put up in a BeltTM claiming game. I'll have to check the archives.

Well, that didn't last long. The BeltTM returns to familiar territory as Carleton retakes ItTM 63-58.

out of curiousity...what happnens to The Belt if it ends the regular season in the possession of a team that does not make postseason play?  For example, what if Macalester takes The Belt from Carleton and goes on an EXTREMELY unlikely season-ending win streak to retain posssession at the close of the regular season. Mac can not make the MIAC Playoffs, much less the NCAA field. In this Bizaro univerese hypothetical....does Mac keep The Belt untill November? or are there rules in place to prevent this from happening?

The BeltTM has neither to time nor the inclination to worry about the results of some other inferior competition to determine a "champion". The BeltTM stands alone in its glory and is retained only by those who rightly wrest it from the grasp of a fallen enemy. To suggest the BeltTM must comply with the rules laid forth by any other entity is an afront to they very baubles and gewgaws that make the BeltTM the legendary object of desire it has become.

I'm sorry, what was your question?

This is the result we hope for every year.  The Belt has not yet deigned to allow it.

I actually never hope for that.  :)
