Seeing the heartbreak on those kids faces in Atlanta when you tell them they won't get The BeltTm is not something any human being should look forward too.

I always hope for that because I root for the underdogs. Having a non-conference tourney making team get possession of The BeltTM is the most underdog-rooting experience ever!

Perhaps The BeltTM will choose to sit this postseason out by landing in the hands of a non-conference tournament qualifying team so it does not tempt Division I and Division II schools to try to make heinous yet ultimately futile attempts to steal The BeltTM for themselves.

out of curiousity...what happnens to The Belt if it ends the regular season in the possession of a team that does not make postseason play?  For example, what if Macalester takes The Belt from Carleton and goes on an EXTREMELY unlikely season-ending win streak to retain posssession at the close of the regular season. Mac can not make the MIAC Playoffs, much less the NCAA field. In this Bizaro univerese hypothetical....does Mac keep The Belt untill November? or are there rules in place to prevent this from happening?

The BeltTM has neither to time nor the inclination to worry about the results of some other inferior competition to determine a "champion". The BeltTM stands alone in its glory and is retained only by those who rightly wrest it from the grasp of a fallen enemy. To suggest the BeltTM must comply with the rules laid forth by any other entity is an afront to they very baubles and gewgaws that make the BeltTM the legendary object of desire it has become.

I'm sorry, what was your question?

That's actually Greg in the front row, right there. No, not there. He's the one in the little strapless number. It was a different era.

I remember that night well. Veronica Lake showed up late for the party carrying a rhinestone-studded clutch purse, and Jean Harlow and the rest of the girls and I were gossipping about how it looked like she had had Gucci cut off a piece of The BeltTM to make it for her.
