Do you mean that the Provincetowners might envy The BeltTM? I think that there could be a concern that the townspeople might become so enamored with the bespangled fabulousness of The BeltTM that Coach Hixon and his Lord Jeffs might never be able to wrest ItTM away from them.

So apparently some guys on the reddit NBA board "decided to come up with" an NBA championship belt.  Now they're building it out to record all holders over the history of the league.

Grantland mentioned it today - http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-triangle/post/_/id/80696/introducing-the-nba-regular-season-championship-belt.

I feel like there are some royalties due.

That's just an impostor (it's probably some patchwork job made from the fabric of all those hideous suits players wear after games)... they simply start a season with whoever won the title the previous year which clearly is not the way of The BeltTM. If The BeltTM decides not to partake in postseason play then ItTM will stay with the team and not magically appear in the hands of the playoff winner.
Lebron can only dream of being able to gaze upon the magnificence that is the one and only BeltTM

Just Bill needs to contact his law firm since this is clearly an infringement on his trademark and a lawsuit should be filed. We have this board to prove that our trademark goes back to January of 2007.

He also needs to break out those weasels as some flesh ripping seems to be in order.

If it's a regular season belt, then why are they awarding it to the previous season's playoff champion?

Just looked at Amherst's schedule.  We're going to be in Mass for awhile.

One common theme from the off-season was the dejection on some of Boston's professional athletes when finding out the trophy they're playing for cannot compare to the lustrous glory of The BeltTM

The BeltTM rolled over in its sleep in game 2, when Newbury cut Amherst's lead to 1... with 18:53 left in the first half...

But that's the closest that one of Amherst's opponents has gotten to taking a lead (or even tying the game) after the first points have been scored.

The BeltTM has rarely ever been so comfortable. Sitting in it's climate controlled, secured location on the campus of Amherst College, confident in the fact that it may not be travelling for a while. The BeltTM enjoyed the Red Sox run to the World Series and the Patriots big win over the Broncos. Frankly, I'm not even sure The BeltTM has paid attention to an Amherst game, so confident it is in remaining put for some time.

The BeltsTM itinerary

12/3     at Westfield State •    7:00 PM    LS V
12/5    vs. Anna Maria •    7:00 PM
12/7     at Emerson •    1:00 PM    LS V
12/10    at Brandeis •    7:00 PM    LS V A
12/12      at Babson •    7:00 PM    LS V
1/1             at Nova Southeastern    2:00 PM
1/7            vs. Eastern Connecticut •    7:00 PM
1/10    vs. Hamilton * •    8:00 PM
1/11         at WILLIAMS

Several of these teams are off to good starts, its possible one of them could sense the glory of The BeltTm and play to a higher level of cosmic consciousness and knock off the Lord Jeffs.

Its a tall, tall order

I'll assume the match on 1/1 is a nontitle affair?  ::) ::) ::)...   Which leads to a darned good trivia question.. has the holder of the BeltTM ever been defeated in a nontitle event?
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

I have question about grammatical propriety in the presence of The BeltTM and how its activities should be written.

Since The BeltTM takes great pride in its communication with the commoners it encounters, how do we correctly spell the possessive case of The BeltTM?

The Belt'sTM
The BeltTM 's
The BeltsTM (and foregoing the apostrophe)

or reverting to the exclusive use of the genitive case as translated into English,

of The BeltTM
