Gotta root for Mount Ida to nab The BeltTM. You can't help but want the most storied pants-suspension device in all of sports to become the (temporary) property of a mountain that's named after somebody's great-aunt.

St. Joseph's hung on to win a 56-50 thriller to keep The BeltTM

Next week its road trips to Emmanuel and Mt. Ida two teams that haven't won many games this year.

Both of those teams hold down the last two spots in the GNAC and neither of those spots get bids to the conference tourney. Of course, assuming either beats St. Joseph's and keep winning to retain the belt, they would qualify for the GNAC tournament, guaranteeing The BeltTM makes the NCAA big dance.

I just said this three posts ago.

Emmanuel is the last game of the season, they just need one win over a mediocre squad and they get the belt all summer.  This could be big!

I'm not following. According to the schedule, St. Joseph's plays Emmanuel tonight and plays Lasell to end the regular season. If Emmanuel wins The BeltTM tonight and holds on to itTM, they play at Albertus Magnus to end the regular season.

I'm guessing you were looking at Albertus Magnus's schedule?  ???

Yeah, it was some other schedule, maybe I clicked on the wrong year or something.

There is no way St. Joe's losses the Belttm before the palyoffs...

The BeltTM traveled to Boston to take on Emmanuel and enjoy some yummy clam chowder. After beating the Saints 78-67, St. Joseph's and The BeltTM returned to Maine realizing lobster is way better than soup. Next up for the Monks is a trip to Newton to battle the Mustangs of Mount Ida.

Mt. Ida's coach holds the dual role that's probably more common in D3 than the D1 level, he'd probably like to add "BeltTm wearer"

Impressive win for the Monks, given that, in the presence of 12 or more Saints, they could never get off their knees.

I'm impressed that they're able to hang onto The BeltTM while simultaneously playing basketball, chanting "Pie Iesu domine, dona eis requiem", and hitting themselves in the forehead with boards.

Feeling threatened that others might believe there to be a higher power than The BeltTM, The BeltTM wasn't up for competing yesterday and deemed last nights game with Mt. Ida to be postponed just to remind everyone who's really in charge.

Got an e-mail from Mother Nature saying that is BS: "The BeltTM is glorious, but I, Mother Nature, am all powerful.  Even The BeltTM cannot withstand my wrath.  And I just don't like you guys much this year."

Suffering through the worst Michigan winter I've ever suffered through (and this is my 44th), I believe Ma! ;)

Ask yourself Mr Y, how does mother nature hold up her pants?  If you answer belt, you really have all the answers.

Nah, she uses suspenders. ;D

Actually, she only wears dresses - don't you remember the margarine ads? ;)

And IF the forecast is correct, we have a major thaw coming next week.  Perhaps even too much of a thaw, since too warm, too quick would cause MAJOR flooding.

St. Joseph's and Mt. Ida postponed their game again, its cruel fate that Mt. Ida won't get their shot at The BeltTM.   The game has been rescheduled for next Thursday.

Previous holders Suffolk will get a 2nd crack at it on Saturday when they travel to Standish, Maine.
