Pretty sure The Belttm will be spending a lot of time at Russ' and Village Inn the next couple weeks.   Next couple weeks you say?  Hope plays its annual Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame 'Tournament' with NAIA's Aquinas and Cornerstone this weekend.  No matter what happens Hope will leave the winner because they'll have The Belttm

It will be especially nice to haul the most glorious of accessories into Cornerstone's Mol Arena and when their fans point to their neat shiny new banner in the rafters we'll have the trump card.........and they know it.  Also, LOL Calvin!!!

The next The Belttm title defense won't happen until Friday Dec. 4th when Wheaton comes to DeVos Fieldhouse.

In its first real  defense of The BeltTm Hope pulled out a thrilling double OT win in front of the home fans 88-83 over Wheaton.   The BeltTm bounced around the CCIW last year and Wheaton was one of 4 teams that didn't possess The BeltTm

Wheaton had 2 shots at The BeltTm last year losing 78-74 to Augustana and 71-68 to North Park, add this one to their tragic pursuit of The BeltTm history.

This would be even cooler if there actually was a giant leather belt with shiny baubles and gewgaws all over it, as in boxing and professional wrestling.

Just Bill's To Do List:
1. Visit Leather shop (not that I know where it is  ;))
2. Visit Michael's Arts and Crafts
3. Construct Belt in garage
4. Write letter to NCAA

Over on the often neglected NACC board, Ryan Stoppable pointed out we passed the 10-year anniversary of The BeltTM passing through the (properly protected, gloved) hands of some current NACC members. At the time they were part of the Lake Michigan Conference which doesn't even exist anymore.

As a reminder, this month we celebrate the 10th anniversary of The BeltTM's (most recent?) foray into NACC country, as Lakeland, Wisconsin Lutheran and Dominican got their hands on the glorious prize between November 26 and December 29 of 2005.

Bill, the Lake Michigan Conference clearly met its demise because it couldn't deal with the radiation given off by Thee Most Glorious CinctureTM.

Not every league has the lead-lined wardrobe to be able to cope with The BeltTM. If you can't handle the baubles, get out of the kitchen.

Those may have been gloved hands back in the day, but the present BeltTM caretakers clearly wear mittens.  ::)

Yes, yes they do - but not only do mittens make sense for the cold (should it ever arrive here) but it also offers some protection regarding The BeltTM.  Not that ItTM needs protection - as nothing could affect ItsTM gloriousness - but rather protects the hands of the handlers as The BeltTM enjoys some of the local seasonal acitivites - most recently joining the SinterKlaas parade.

Hope defends The BeltTm for the third time with a 79-69 win over UW-Platteville.    The Hanover Panthers will get the next crack on Monday Dec 21 in Holland.

HOPEful

Unless a 3 win team (Hanover, Messiah, or Beloit) can take down the #4 ranked Dutchmen, the Belt will be touring the great state of Michigan for the months of January and February (with stops in Angola, IN)

Have we ever talked about jinxes in here, I don't think we have.  Don't temp The BeltTm
