HOPEful

As I ponder the opportunity Hope has to get The BeltTM back (they held it for many a week last season) I wonder...

Which team has held The BeltTM the longest without keeping it for the summer? (Or, which school that has never won the D3 National Championship has held The BeltTM the longest?
Let's go Dutchmen!

That....did not take long.  UWRF will taunt an NAIA foe with The BeltTm this Friday before playing Hope on Saturday.  (I think I've heard of them)  The game will be played at UW-Stout, a rare regular season The BeltTm match-up on neutral hard wood.

Freddy Falcon, I give it 9/10

Have we ever had a time where The BeltTm went into the hands of a NAIA or DII team? What are the "rules" on that? ;)

Rumor has it that NAIA people melt like Raiders Of the Lost Ark Nazis if they catch a glimpse of The BeltTM.

I don't know what the hell I just stumbled on, but I laughed way harder than I should have.

And because I'm a nerd with too much time on my hands and a desire to cross "Game For The BeltTM" off my Announcer Bucket List after adding it 27 seconds ago...

  • UW-River Falls wins out until losing to Carthage on November 22
  • Carthage wins out until losing to North Central on December 7th
  • Because I won't be at that game, I have to hope NCC runs the table until January 4th because that's their next home game against a D-III foe even though Robert Morris will have already melted in the presence of The BeltTM and they play in Naperville on December 17th.
  • ???
  • Profit.

The fatal drawback here being that both Hope will play for ItTM and Calvin would have a hypothetical shot in this scenario, neither option of which appeals to me, and likely puts this on my list between "Announce an NCAA Tournament Game" and "Announce a 100 Point Margin of Victory game," which freaking Hope fell TWO POINTS SHORT OF.

I'm way too excited about discovering this.
