Making UWSP ineligible for The BeltTm this year results in The BeltTm currently residing on the East Coast at Amherst.

That depends on when you make them ineligible for The BeltTM. If we're retroactively removing ItTM from the Pointers, that means Augustana kept ItTM over the 2015 summer, which would be our first instance of The BeltTM holder not being the national champion (unless the NCAA takes that away). That then results in The BeltTM not spending last winter in lovely Michigan and instead means ItTM spent another winter gallivanting around the CCIW.

Department of Temporal Investigations Alternate Reality of The BeltTM
End of 2014-15 Season
2-28-15: Augustana (UWSP would hypothetically vacate its win and thus its ownership of The BeltTM)

2015-16 Season
2-28-15: Augustana
1-6-16: Elmhurst
1-23-16: North Central (IL)
2-3-16: Augustana
3-12-16: St. Thomas (MN)

...and the timeline returns to normal in the D-III title game of last season when the Tommies beat Benedictine and claimed The BeltTM as happened in reality.

This is the part where I admit bias/a conflict of interest on my part that I didn't know I had when I posed the original question, and it was only when I started realizing the ramifications that my alma mater/team I yell things for would have in fact held The BeltTM for a week and a half. But then it would beg the question of why I wouldn't remember this timeline being the case...

I took the mild throbbing in my head as a sign that I should stop.

Actually, given that UWSP's rules violations allegedly began in 2011-12, the possession by the Pointers of The BeltTM during the 2012-13 season would have to be vacated as well, creating a completely new path from December 12, 2012 onward. Here's the 2012-13 path as it's currently constituted:

2012-2013
UW-Whitewater
12-12-12 UW-Stevens Point
12-21-12 St. Thomas
1-21-13 Concordia-Moorhead
1-23-13 Carleton
1-26-13 Bethel
1-30-13 St. John's
2-4-13 Augsburg
2-6-13 Carleton
2-13-13 Gustavus Adolphus
2-16-13 Concordia-Moorhead
2-22-13 Augsburg
2-23-13 St. Thomas
3-23-13 Mary Hardin-Baylor
4-7-13   Amherst

I believe ItTM only looks forward, not backward.

I don't feel like any adjustments should be made. If you retroactively strip Stevens Point of The BeltTM, as mentioned above you end up retroactively stripping a bunch of other teams who did nothing wrong.

Not to mention a lot of hilarious posts would now be very confusing.

Maybe, multiple suspenders would be appropriate for those denied. :)

I don't think so. The idea that they were all part of an alternative timeline that somehow got wiped out retroactively, like what happened to the ninth season of Dallas in the mid-'80s (or to the entire series runs of Newhart and St. Elsewhere for that matter), is actually both understandable and familiar. "Wait! Didn't Such-And-Such College have The BeltTH for a couple of weeks back in 2013-14?" "No, man, it was all just a dream."

After all, if The BeltTM has risen to the level of myth rather than just being the in-joke of a handful of d3boards.com posters with too much time on their hands, then this retroactive stripping due to UWSP's sanctions might be exactly what The BeltTM needs. After all, what's a good myth without the occasional retcon? Just ask the people who follow Star Trek, Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Greek mythology, etc.

All we'd need to reference a post from The BeltTM (The Lost Years) whenever the subject comes up is a Wayne's World flashback dissolve:

I hereby decree...

Whereas the NCAA and their championship hath no purview over the D-III Championship BeltTM, it so follows that NCAA rules, regulations and violation also hold no sway over the Great Bespangled Cincture.

Whereas the spirit of D-III Championship BeltTM calls back to the traditions of professional wrestling and boxing, it follows that rules are for losers. The BeltTM doesn't mind a little underhandedness, a steel chair to the head while the referees back is turned, or a sudden face turn betraying your tag-team partner.

Therefore, regardless of any future vacancies declared by the NCAA, the past paths of the D-III Championship BeltTM through the hands of all those worthy shall not be changed or altered.

As an avid lurker to this forum,  I am truly overwhelmed by this unprecedented decision.  My elation from this decree, might only be eclipsed by the emotion felt from those within the SC foothills of Clemson on this historic date.
