Wartburg 76  River Falls 43

Wartburg scored 44 first half points and even though they could have quit and still won the game, the Knights did come out and play the 2nd half.

Fantastic!

I believe the Knights are our first IIAC team to grasp ItsTm luster

Almost. Wartburg's actually the second IIAC team to grab hold of Thee Most Bespangled CinctureTM. Buena Vista held The BeltTM from March 8 thru March 14 of the 2007-08 season, also after wresting it from a WIAC foe in a second-round game (in BVU's case it was UWSP who was de-BeltTMed). If history repeats itself, it will be extra fortune to whichever team manages to take down the Knights, since the team that defeated the Beavers in the 2008 tourney, Wash U, ended up winning the national championship.

That's assuming, of course, that Wartburg does not proceed over the course of the next two weekends to become the biggest underdog ever to win the D3 title.

Forget the Grey Giovanine Jacket Watch; we're now on Grey Giovanine BeltTM Watch, which is like 30 percent more exciting.

I just hope that Just Bill has the insurance premiums fully paid up on The BeltTM, because there's no telling what Grey Giovanine will do to ItTM in all of his madcap fury whenever something goes wrong for Augie.

If last night is any indication, he'll probably grab it by the baubles and yell at it incoherently.

(fyi, overall I thought Grey had impeccable on court demeanor.  For Grey that is.)

Hell hath no fury like the BeltTM swung overhead and thrown.

Augustana will tote The BeltTm to Salem where they will take on Williams Friday evening.

So, if Grey wears the BeltTM -- I know this behavior is not recommended, but Grey's gonna Grey -- when he inevitably moves to chuck his jacket into the fourth row, does the Belt serve as a drag on the jacket's flight path, or does it add propulsion to the extent that spectators in the nether regions of the facility should also be paying attention?

And can you put your eye out with that thingTM?

He should hope the BeltTM doesn't throw him.

Boy, I'd pay good money to see ThatTM happen.

Gotta believe many of us would also be willing to pay to see this:  Should GG disrespect The BeltTM in any way, a battle between he and the weasels - epic!!

Well no matter how the final four goes, for the second consecutive season, the D3 champ will also have possession of The BeltTM.  It's just a question as to what region it will go to spend the offseason.

Just based on school locations, in theory, it has a 50% chance of going to Massachusetts for the summer.

But my prognostications have both Massachusetts schools losing tomorrow night and The BeltTM Championship will, also for the second year in a row, will have a first time Final Four school - who also is undefeated, vying for the title.   While I think Whitman will be hard to stop, I thought that of (my) Benedictine Eagles last year, part of me hopes that Augustana brings it home to the Quad Cities...
