Yorkpa 118  Washington and Lee 110  OT

Only 3 guys scored more than 35 points in this game, no biggy.

Another The BeltTm classic as Yorkpa defends The BeltTm and will haul that sucker back to Yorkpa.  True story, I once knew some people who lived in York, the Miles, say hello if you get a chance..........or rather don't bother because they live in Chattanooga now.

The BeltTm is tied into the CAC  (that's Capital Area Conference for you newbies) for the rest of the year, and I think a typically different path to Salem than usual for the The BeltTm

Yorkpa travels to Salisbury on Wed. night.  Salisbury is coached by Andrew Sachs.........another true story I saw Andrew coach a game at Olivet with Bethany a few years ago, I like him.

Salisbury is the Gulls, our 2nd one of the 2017-18 Belt adventure.

2 of my past prospects start for Salisbury now, but I don't think they'll be able to wrest the Belt from the Spartans.

I'm pretty sure that's the Capital Athletic Conference, unless I'm missing some kind of joke in there...but I digress.  ??? :P ;D

Ahahaha  yes that's it inside joke

It's certainly not because the poster is nearing senility and confusing the name of a D3 conference with a local high school conference.. ....

that doesn't even exist anymore

hahahahah

yes, inside, joke

sac, you read that backwards - Middlebury won 78-67.  I'm afraid no one outside of NESCAC will see The BeltTM until March, if then.  NESCAC is currently 35-7 in OOC play.

I wouldn't be so sure.  They won't get into conference play until January and before then Middlebury has Skidmore - no slouch - York (PA), who's been playing great, and Swarthmore, a really well-balance, well-coached team.  If the Panthers can run that gauntlet, maybe there really is some supernatural mojo in the belt.
Prescient, Hoops Fan!

I am glad to get it out of the NESCAC, because I could imagine The BeltTM spending more than 52 weeks in that conference.

Yorkpa 84  Salisbury 81

Yorkpa retains The BeltTm in another classic and celebrated with....(wait for it)......salisbury steak I'm sure.  The Spartans head down to Southern Virginia on Saturday afternoon.  Yorkpa is undefeated.

Southern Virginia is relatively new to D3 and I have a couple questions:  One is how you get away with calling yourselves Southern Virginia when your campus is in Buena Vista and that's actually a touch North of Richmond and Richmond is not in Southern Virginia.    Two, why and how is there a kid from Shelby, MI on your roster   http://athletics.svu.edu/sports/mbkb/2017-18/bios/brown_spencer_okta    He has nine siblings so I'm guess you'll be recruiting Shelby, MI a lot in the future.

Here's a neat tidbit.  I can now think of 5 current college basketball players from the town of Shelby, MI pop 2,065.  Four in D3.

When you search Southern Virginia mascot, google comes up with Knights and this picture..........

Knights is a nickname I'm not particularly very fond of, and their school colors of maroon and yellow have been done before.

However, google also says that Southern Virgina students are known as the "motivational elite".......you have my attention.

You missed the most interesting tidbit, Southern Virginia is a mormon school with the goal of becoming the BYU of the east.

Also, Salisbury has what might be the northernmost Cook Out - for sure, if they stopped anywhere, it was there.  Of course, I was wondering if the York players even got to shower - with the impending snow, I'm guessing they were back on the bus ASAP.

BYU was founded in 1875.  Let's give Southern Virginia 50 years (a couple of lifetimes of successful achievements by their recent grads and then their children) to see how they are progressing.

Yorkpa finally gets to take The BeltTm home, they'll host Penn State-Harrisburg Wednesday night. I don't even have to look it up to know they're the Nittany Lions and their colors are blue and white.  That is boring, because all Penn State branch campuses are boring and unoriginal.

Its the same lion for all branch campuses he/she/it just holds up a different sign for each campus in front of a green screen.

Buena Vista is north of Richmond by a little bit as the crow flies, but of course, it's also two hours west.

Meanwhile, both Richmond and Buena Vista are clearly not Northern Virginia, which is that string of blue and purple counties around the D.C. area.

Well this would explain recruiting the kid with 9 siblings...

Yorkpa host Christopher Newport Saturday afternoon.  Yorkpa is riding a 14 game winning streak that includes capturing the greatest fictional trophy of all time which automatically increases the winning streak to like 28 games, CNU comes in 11-3 and boasting perhaps the best metal work mascot seen to date:

a fascinating statue with the small problem that the real Christopher Newport had only one arm.

Christopher Newport are not an upscale suit store but are the Captains and once upon a time I watched them play, well sorta, Hope in an NCAA tournament game that didn't go well for them.

"Didn't go well for them."  ;D   That sure was a fun game to watch in the Dow; Dan Van Hekken was on fire in the first half.
