I look at the argument of "States The BeltTM Has Been In" from the lens of, "If you won ItTM, it went back home with you barring a situation like either winning ItTM in Vegas or on the first day of an NCAA Tournament weekend before handing ItTM over."

Based solely on that and actually not factoring in losses over a weekend, this is a map of states whose schools have won The BeltTM. I didn't post the map directly in here because it would have broken the webpage.

This also doesn't factor in potential road trips to schools in states where The BeltTM hasn't taken up residence with a victor, which would require a little deeper research. It also doesn't count excursions taken by BeltTM holders, such as Concordia-Moorhead hypothetically crossing the Red River over into Fargo, which had I been aware of The Belt'sTM existence when it was there I would have sent my cousin who lives there to try and take it on pain of Raiders of the Lost Ark face melting... though he or my uncle may have welding equipment to help protect from this.

Anyway, I like how most of the territory covered is contiguous, with exception of a few of the outposts (Washington, California, Texas, and Maine because as far as I could tell no New Hampshire schools have held The BeltTM.

But yeah, that Vegas scenario fascinates me.

I hereby declare lmitzel the "Official D-III Championship BeltTM Cartographer" and grant all rights and privileges inherent to  the title. Which is none.

Catching up on some The BeltTm results in the most important tournament of them all......until next week.

Mary Washington 82  Frostburg State 78

Mary Washington takes  The BeltTm back only 12 days after having lost it.

Christopher Newport 90  Mary Washington 74    (that might set a record for most letters in a belt title fight)

That's CNU's 2nd crack at The BeltTm this Winter, they'll get to host YorkpaTm on Saturday where the winner will have the prestige of taking it into the NCAA Tournment.  Also they'll be CAC champs or something.

A small reminder Christopher Newport is the Captains

I don't know how I missed it before but "Captain Chris" (of course)  also travels economically.

Yorkpa is the Spartans, and this thing they call Spartan Screamer is their mascot

2017-18  Dam BeltTm Path
3-18-17  Babson
11-19-17  Endicott
11-26-17  Endicott Middlebury
12-29-17  York(Pa)
1-20-18  Mary Washington
2-10-18  Wesley
2-17-18  Frostburg State
2-20-18  Mary Washington
2-22-18  Christopher Newport

For reasons I really can't explain, the fact that Middlebury's reign as BeltTM holder will be recorded like this for all of history is my favorite part of BeltTMtropolis this year.

Yorkpa 82 Christopher Newport 73

Yorkpa gets the second highest honor in The BeltTm yearly saga of carrying it into the NCAA Tournament, otherwise known as The BeltTm Tournament among those in the know.   BTW the highest honor is obviously holding it all summer.

......and Yorkpa is the CAC Champions

We'll find out Monday who Yorkpa will face next Friday somewhere on the East Coast.   Mostly likely a team with a bird mascot if things go the way I've exaggerated them this year.

lmitzel

Beware, YorkPa: history has not been kind to those who hold The BeltTM going into the NCAA Tournament.

YorkPa will defend The BeltTM this weekend against the Yeshiva Maccabees.

No animals, at least not in round one, but how will these supernatural powers fare against Jewish freedom fighters?

I'm probably not the best equipped to answer that question.

I'm hearing of the "Masada" defense being employed by Yeshiva; if that's the case, the Romans(Spartans) will have to "ramp" up their offense.

As I watched the selection show I was mesmerized by the possibility of a 2nd round game of Biblical proportion for The BeltTM between Yeshiva and Nazareth.
