D3 Championship Belt

In updating the map, I learned that yesterday's victory for DeSales was the first time The Belt^TM had graced their campus. They're guaranteed to get at least one more Belt^TM game regardless of the result against Ursinus due to the fact that that game is part of the Al Senavitis Memorial Tournament. I'm not sure who the other two participants are though.

We've really narrowed down the directions The Belt^Tm can go. 

DeSales  --MAC Freedom   
Ursinas  --Centennial
Alvernia  --MAC  Commonwealth
Montclair St  --NJAC

After this tournament.   DeSales has one non-conference game with Shenandoah (ODAC),  Ursinas has all Centenial Conference games remaining,  Alvernia has a game with Arcadia of the MAC Freedom,   Montclair St has all NJAC games remaining.

Epic, The Belt^Tm tilt this evening. 


DeSales will travel to Lycoming next Wed night.   Lycoming are the Warriors this is their mascot Lycos.


Lycos means wolf in greek, which explains the Greek clothing.  Clever folks there in the Pennsylvania.

Bulldogs survive a late 3pt attempt and will carry The Belt^Tm to Winchester, Va on Monday night where they'll play Shenandoah University.  Its the final chance for The Belt^Tm to escape the MAC Freedom Conference before that little consolation tournament at the end of the year.  Should 2-9 Shenandoah prevail we'll spent the next two months bouncing the ODAC.


Shenandoah refer to themselves as the Hornets and I am not kidding you when I introduce ....Buzzy D. Hornet

I guess last night was the first time in the Modern Era that The Belt^TM made the trek to Williamsport. Lycoming had The Belt^TM during the Stealth Era at least a couple times.

I don't know if Shenandoah ever played for It^TM before off the top of my head, but Monday will be the first time It^TM has made the trek to Winchester, VA. Part of me hopes the Hornets pull off the upset if only because the Salem Civic Center can add to its illustrious history of Belt^TM games (27 in the Modern Era).

Malik Jordan's jumper with 5 seconds left and two icing free throws led to a 61-58 victory for the Hornets.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is the latest in the season anyone has ever acquired The Belt^Tm and won their first game against D3 competition.  Sounds real anyway.


So to the ODAC we go.  Fun pool, guess the date Randolph-Macon acquires The Belt^Tm


As mentioned above Shenandoah's first opportunity to defend this thing^Tm comes Wednesday at the Washington and Lee Generals,   W&L has appeared here before as an opponent 6 years ago and cool story I pulled the mascot picture from that post.  I was hilarious then.


He has no name, but its obviously the "Lee" in Washington and Lee.   


I don't get to bummed when teams lose The Belt^Tm but I am about this because I was looking forward to bumping around the MAC Freedom which seemed like a real "survivor" kind of quest.   

It breaks my heart I will be unable to introduce this board to Stevens University and Attila the Duck

To your point, this is the 4th time The Belt^TM has made the trek to Lexington, VA. The Generals are 0-2 in games at their place, plus this was a neutral site for a game in the 2017-18 season.

Fun fact in updating the map: Virginia Wesleyan is 7-0 at home in games involving The Belt^TM. I counted about a dozen teams that have not lost a home Belt^TM game, but the only team that can match that 7-0 mark is Amherst.
