W&L retains The BeltTm, they'll next play Ferrum in Ferrum, Virginia

I have always imagined Ferrum would be the Ferrum Ferrets, but alas, Ferrum is the Ferrum Panthers.

He/she doesn't appear to have a name, we could name it Ferret the Ferrum Panther but that probably isn't right.

I might have to go back and watch the end of this, as Ferrum led 89-81 with 54 seconds to go before The BeltTM activated ItsTM divine powers to aid the visitors to a furious rally to win on a pair of Sam Wise free throws with 18 ticks left.

W&L will return home to defend The BeltTM against Lynchburg on Saturday.

I am devastated for the Fightin' Ferrets.  Live by the 3, die by the 3.  ClassicTm

Washington and Lee will host Lynchburg on Saturday, Lynchburg are the Hornets they have not won since before Christmas.

Their current mascot is named Dell the Hornet, this one was cooler I thought.  "Elsie"

This is Dell, I'm sorry if this breaks d3boards.com or causes you the reader any other physical or mental trauma

I am even more devastated for the Ferrum Fightin' Ferrets, they led by 21.

Lets just say, Ferrum will be practicing baseline inbounds plays.  And the video producer will be working on switching cameras for potential game winning shots.

W&L 104  Lynchburg 62 F

In good news, no camera operators will be criticized this week and baseline inbounds passes probably weren't an issue........probably.  The Generals are loving life with this thingTm.

Wednesday they'll host the Bridgewater Eagles.  In the unlikely event you've paid attention or remember much of my drivel you may have noted we have  a lot of bird mascots, like so many.   Most are quite angry or fearsome, or as fearsome as you can make a Cardinal.  So its with incredible pleasure I introduce Ernie the Eagle

This is how to do mascots.

Ernie is a fabulous looking mascot indeed.

Ernie unfortunately doesn't get the glory.

Washington & Lee 87, Bridgewater 82

The Generals' next defense comes in a week at Randolph.

I have to admit I expected The BeltTm to shift around the ODAC a little more than this.  But the Generals have proven to be worthy its glory.   The BeltTm takes a bit of a breather as the Generals have the weekend off.  They'll host the WildCats of Randolph Collge next Wednesday night.    And folks I have to tell you Randolph is pretty specific about randomly capitalizing the C in WildCats a homage to their days as a Women's College.

Wanda WildCat everybody.

On the mascot scale of 1-10 that doesn't exist, its a pretty good one.

Can we also discuss how W&L has to travel to Lynchburg to play Randolph, when they just hosted Lynchburg 7 days ago.  I'm getting Dubuque vibes.   Isn't there a better way to do this.

We're not quite to the level of Dubuque yet; wouldn't Randolph have to play Lynchburg for The BeltTM to truly get us to that level?

The BeltTM must really like Lexington, Virginia.

Washington & Lee 92, Randolph 81

Three of the Generals' last four are at home, with the only remaining road game at Bridgewater.

I feel like we've reached "rampaging with The BeltTm level here.   In an unrelated thought bubble you can't see, Randolph should change its name to Randolph and Mortimer College, see if anyone notices, or gets it.

Saturday the Generals host Virginia Wesleyan.  We've already met Bob Marlin.

And I know its not D3 but from time to time I run across a mascot that has to be shared, most times the better part of my mind steps in and says "nah man these D3 dudes aren't into that"

This is the West Virginia Wesleyan mascot, I don't know its name but it has some "old man of the hills who hates people" vibes going on.

I'm always game for a good mascot picture/story from you. Share away!

I'm super confused, as I thought it was a different general in a different century who went rampaging below the Mason-Dixon line.

I've been down more Civil War rabbit holes in the last week researching ODAC colleges than I had in my previous 35 years of living.

Fun facts.  The 'Lee' in Washington and Lee appeared after he was President of Washington College following the war.  He and Stonewall Jackson are buried in Lexington near the college along with Lee's horse Traveler, (or maybe on it, I've forgotten now).   Lexington is also the home of Virginia Military Institute and it was burned to the ground during the Shenandoah Valley campaign, which led to the revenge burning of places in Pennsylvania I've now forgotten and ultimately that led to Sherman's march.

Which leads us directly to modern day BeltTM dominance obviously.
