D3Baseball.com has opened up a new door for me....The D-III Baseball Championship BeltTM.  Think about how many times it could bounce back and forth across the country on those Spring Break tournament trips to Florida.  It could even change hands then change back in the same doubleheader.  The timewasting possiblities are endless....

Plus, baseball players actually WEAR a belt.  It could be functional as well as idiotic.

Guilford defeats Washington & Lee (both of them...at the same time!) 95-77.  That's two successful defenses in a row and three for the season for the Quakers.  One more win and Guilford will carry the D-III Championship BeltTM proudly into the ODAC Tournament.

Next Championship BeltTM match:    Guilford at Emory & Henry (both of them...at the same time!), Saturday.

Maybe Marietta will still have the belt when they play McMurry!

You really do have your finger on the pulse of what Posting Up is all about, don't you, Bill? :D

I'd make the third-base coach wear it.

"If I point to this bauble right here, it means 'bunt'. If I point to this bauble over here, it means 'take'. If I point to the gewgaw right here in the middle, it means 'swing away'. If I point to the shiny brass medallion on my hip, it means, 'Disregard the next sign, and look for the second one' ..."

Player:  But coach, you said the green rhinestone was a hit-and-run!
Coach:  No! The YELLOW rhinestone is hit-and-run, the phony green emerald is steal and the faded photo of John L. Sullivan is bunt.
Player:  Who's John L. Sullivan?

BUT COACH... I told I was color-blind... I thought you pointed at the yellow rhinestones!!!

Guilford retains the D-III Championship BeltTM with a 108-107 squeaker over Emory & Henry.  The Quakers survive the double team and will pack the BeltTM up for a trip to the ODAC Tournament.  I'm sure VWU is anxious to reclaim the leather.  Let's get ready to RUMBLE!

Nov. 17-Nov. 27 - Virginia Wesleyan
Nov. 27-Jan. 2 - Averett
Jan. 2-Jan. 7 - Guilford

Jan. 27-Jan. 28 - Emory & Henry
Jan. 28-Feb. 7 - Randolph-Macon
Feb. 7-Feb. 10 - Bridgewater (Va.)
Feb. 10-Current - Guilford

Next Championship BeltTM match: Guilford vs. Bridgewater (Va.) on Thursday, Feb. 22  (That pairing is according to the good folks on the ODAC board. If it's wrong, yell at them.)

Constructing the Championship BeltTM in my garage has been harder than I thought.  Once I mastered the hot glue gun, I still had to figure out the appropriate number of baubles and gewgaws.  (Maybe the folks from MIT or CalTech could figure out the formula for that.)  Finding slightly aged photos of Sager and McHugh in a classic jump shot pose has also proved quite difficult.  Of course, it would all be easier if my wife would stop opening the garage door and shouting, "Why aren't you at work?!?"  She doesn't understand how to prioritize her life.

I'm considering outsourcing the job and I may have found just the right person to do it.

Strange that Pat didn't mention it in his front page recap, but Bridgewater strips the Division III Championship BeltTM back from Guilford 88-78!  Don't get too cozy with the hardware yet Bridgewater.  You've got to defend it tomorrow against seemingly the only ODAC team who hasn't held the BeltTM yet this year.

I have to say there have been a lot of transitional champions lately!!  Maybe HSC can hold on for a bit with a series of Disqualifications.
