You cannot have two teams from the same conference play each other in the first round.

There are no other restrictions on rematches.

In the past the WBB committee has worked hard to create interesting matchups, mixed-region pods, etc.

I expect that now that seeding is public, that will be kept to a minimum, to optimize the bracket integrity of seeding.

I expect pods and quadrants to be more regional than in past years.

Quote from: Augie2020 on March 03, 2025, 11:07:55 AMSeriously why would you put NYU and Emory in the same bracket after just playing each other twice?Makes no sense just like the bracket for Women you put out.The only team you put all the Midwest schools with is Scranton and if chalk holds serve and you did your seeding right 1 plays 16,2 plays 15,3 plays 14 and 4 plays 13 Whitewater is a 13 seed not a 14 seed.

Can all the midwest schools get to scranton in under 500 miles?

None of the ones in Ryan Scott's mock bracket.

I think the Selection Committee did a really nice job putting the bracketing together.
Should the Lady Royals survive the first weekend, they'll have at least a 50% chance of hosting the second round as the NCAA will need to fly 2 teams regardless of whether the flights are going east or west.
Since Scranton would have the highest NPI...one would surmise that should play in their favor.

At first glance, I certainly like this bracket far better than Ryan's.  ;)

Also love the dark humor of sending Amherst to Smith with certainly no love lost there.

The Lady Royals will be hosting Mt St Mary in the 1st round; the other 2 teams in the pod are S. Virginia playing Bates. Looking ahead, the good news is that the Johns Hopkins pod is in the same quadrant which should eliminate Scranton having to fly to the midwest for the sectional weekend. Looks good for Scranton hosting the sectional, presuming they make it that far. Much better for Scranton than Ryan Scott's mock bracket which would have had them flying to the upper midwest.

Agree Saratoga with the way the NCAA put together this bracket.Probably the best one they put together since I have been watching them!Saratoga and Ronk again agree definetly way better then Ryan's.So thank god it didn't hold CHALK.Another thing they will have to fly Two in the Bowdoin section also if they get to the sectionals. But very impressed with the way this committee did it.Great job!!!

Why are you guys so against Scranton hosting the sectionals???Whitman is not the number one seed in that bracket either,Scranton is the number 1 seed Holy **** you and Ryan are trying so hard to make Scranton Travel why?Since Ryan's CHALK didn't come through you tried to use Carneige Melon to get Whitewater to host.Your trying guys but truthfully even if Carneige Melon wins Johns Hopkins Bracket which I doubt they will.CMU is much closer to Scranton, they  are in Pittsburgh not Ohio (like you said ).It seems like even though Bowdoin has two flights Scranton will have two flights you don't want Scranton to host and why is that you and Ryan went through 50 brackets and you guys are trying real hard to get Scranton out of hosting.Thank God you guys are not on the committee. Seriously. This was from his show tonight and Riley said no CMU can't get to Whitewater.SMH

Pittsburgh to Whitewater, Wisc. 569 miles (flight).
Pittsburgh to Scranton 283 miles (bus).

If Scranton makes it through the first weekend, they will be the highest ranked team in that section with a # 3 national ranking in NPI.
Why would they not host weekend # 2?
As I said earlier, there will either be 2 flights heading west or 2 heading east.
If the highest seed is still standing, purchase your "Office" tee shirts now. ;)

Just out of genuine curiosity, how did you guys get THREE teams in the NCAA's?   Scranton, of course, Catholic, O.K., but E'town?   Oh well, have fun!

I don't understand the argument. Scranton is a larger metro area, with more hotels, restaurants to meet the needs of teams coming in. The gyms are nearly the same size, with I believe the Long Center holding more.

And. Scranton is the higher seed.

 Augie,
Scott didn't say he didn't want Scranton to host; he just wanted to see if Carnegie-Mellon hosting would have eliminated a flight; if it did, that would be the sectional hosting choice. He was checking out the possibility of it happening, so Scranton wouldn't be blind-sided.

The host would have been Carnegie-Mellon, not Whitewater, because a flight would have been eliminated(if Pittsburgh-Whitewater < 500 miles).

Kate,
Catholic(#3) and Etown(#9) were ranked that highly of the 21 at-large teams selected for the tourney.
