sort of randomly comparing LAND, MACC, MACF, you can see how much better the 3 Landmark teams (and Messiah) were than everyone else.

Quote from: scottiedawg on March 03, 2025, 11:51:39 AMYou cannot have two teams from the same conference play each other in the first round.

There are no other restrictions on rematches.

In the past the WBB committee has worked hard to create interesting matchups, mixed-region pods, etc.

I expect that now that seeding is public, that will be kept to a minimum, to optimize the bracket integrity of seeding.

I expect pods and quadrants to be more regional than in past years.
Why are you guys so against Scranton hosting the sectionals???Whitman is not the number one seed in that bracket either,Scranton is the number 1 seed Holy **** you and Ryan are trying so hard to make Scranton Travel why?Since Ryan's CHALK didn't come through you tried to use Carneige Melon to get Whitewater to host.Your trying guys but truthfully even if Carneige Melon wins Johns Hopkins Bracket which I doubt they will.CMU is much closer to Scranton, they  are in Pittsburgh not Ohio (like you said ).It seems like even though Bowdoin has two flights Scranton will have two flights you don't want Scranton to host and why is that you and Ryan went through 50 brackets and you guys are trying real hard to get Scranton out of hosting.Thank God you guys are not on the committee. Seriously. This was from his show tonight and Riley said no CMU can't get to Whitewater.SMH

 Augie,
Scott didn't say he didn't want Scranton to host; he just wanted to see if Carnegie-Mellon hosting would have eliminated a flight; if it did, that would be the sectional hosting choice. He was checking out the possibility of it happening, so Scranton wouldn't be blind-sided.
No he didn't Ronk he said can CM Get to Whitewater.First words out of his mouth

Ronk go back and listen to it and stop twisting the words.Go back and play from 40 minutes in until 43 minutes. His exact words  ,Interesting pod because Carneige Mellon can get to Whitewater then the 3  teams can drive to Whitewater and Scranton would be left out .Then Riley corrected him and Said CMU can not get to Whitewater so that idea is out. Show me when he said Carneige Melon would host in this.

He did say he wondered if everyone could get to Whitewater except Scranton but that would only be possible if Whitman lost @ Stout or stayed over for the whole week in Wisconsin. I was the thinking of the more probable scenario of 1 flight(Whitman) and 2 bus trips(WW and Scranton) to Pittsburgh if WW < 500 miles to PGH v the 2 flights that will be needed if chalk holds.

It will not be the first time the NCAA sending two teams on a flight Scranton and Tufts did it to Wash U for the sweet 16,Scranton and NYU did it to Hope for the sweet 16.Seriously like saratoga said These ladies deserve every right to host no matter what the circumstances are,Just like they did for Wash U and Hope.

ronk

It's the difference between necessary flights(Scranton and NYU to Hope) and those that can be avoided(WW) in the PGH scenario.

Hoopsville to interview today the HC of the Lady Royals 1st round opponent Mt St Mary.

Guys, let's focus on winning this weekend.
I have all the faith in the world the NCAA will do the right thing since NPI is the new shiny object. ???

Great Day to be a Royal

Quote from: saratoga on March 04, 2025, 07:23:46 AMPittsburgh to Whitewater, Wisc. 569 miles (flight).
Pittsburgh to Scranton 283 miles (bus).

If Scranton makes it through the first weekend, they will be the highest ranked team in that section with a # 3 national ranking in NPI.
Why would they not host weekend # 2?
As I said earlier, there will either be 2 flights heading west or 2 heading east.
If the highest seed is still standing, purchase your "Office" tee shirts now. ;)

I don't understand the argument. Scranton is a larger metro area, with more hotels, restaurants to meet the needs of teams coming in. The gyms are nearly the same size, with I believe the Long Center holding more.

And. Scranton is the higher seed.

The host would have been Carnegie-Mellon, not Whitewater, because a flight would have been eliminated(if Pittsburgh-Whitewater < 500 miles).

Ah, my fault!  I did not go back that far!

Thanks!

Personally, I think the women's committee did a great job moving teams around & creating equitable brackets based on all the factors.
Always an exception here & there that can be debated but overall, a really nice job.

Conversely, the men's bracket is all over the place and multiple placements make no sense.

The Bates team reminds me of E-town on steroids.
Fantastic in the post & quick guards that can shoot.
Haven't seen SVU play all year so no idea what they bring other than a great record.

Evaluated 1 of Bates' guards(Sarah Hughes -Jersey Shore area) in AAU previously - no one was going to outwork her.

Landmark awards:
Kaci Kranson - 1st team
Liz Bennett & Kaeli Romanowski - 2nd team

Hard to believe Kaeli didn't retain her 1st team berth from last season.

Congrats to all the Landmark award winners.
However, not choosing Ben & his staff two years in a row as Coaching Staff of the Year with what they've accomplished is just plain wrong.
Last year he took his team all the way to the Elite 8 & this season he finishes the Landmark with 1 loss & a 10th. consecutive league championship with a team full of underclassmen yet somehow he & his staff didn't quite get it done in the eyes of his peers?
Pony pucks!
Petty jealously is alive & well.
