Hello all new user here have a son that will attend Austana this comming year and play baseball. Don't looking forward to the season next year.

Welcome.

GoldmanCO

Thank you Excited about the opportunity for him to win a spot on the roster and earn an education... We are from Colorado and three of his classmates will be attending Augustana two baseball one track.. Should be a great experience I have heard nothing but very good things about the league and college.

The change in subject heading is to facilitate identifying a specific message board by sport and then by subject.  Good luck in 2008.

I cannot believe the statement of Aurora will walk through the NAC. That is rediculous. Lets take a looks at what they did last year and who they have this year before we make comments like that.

BigPoppa's 2009 Central Region Rankings:

1.   Illinois Wesleyan- CCIW (Even with Kulavic out, the Titans will be there in the end)

2.   Carthage- CCIW (The loss of 2008 all-CCIW pitcher Mario Perez to injury will be balanced by the return from injury of 2007 all-CCIW pitcher Chris Krepline)

3.   Wartburg- IIAC (Billy Schmitt has the arm to lead the Knights back to the top of the Central Region)

4.   Webster- SLIAC (Solid team that benefits from a very weak SLIAC this season. Expect them to climb the ranknings once league play starts)

5.   Ripon- MWC (Dominance of the MWC will continue in 2009 and will only face one league challenge in Beloit)

6.   Augustana- CCIW (Probably the third best team in the region, but I find it hard to place them higher this early as they will only be the third best CCIW team)

7.   Simpson- IIAC (Should pressure Wartburg for the IIAC title and return most of the line up from last season)

8.   Beloit- MWC (ENTIRE lineup back from 2008 squad that went 18-16. MUST improve on dismal league record if they are to become a legit contender in the Central Region)

9.   WashU- UAA (OK team that will hang around for part of the season, but not make too much noise)

10. Wheaton- CCIW (Nation's batting champion returning in SS Brian Kolb and a serious upgrade at coach with the arrival of Lee Driggers from McMurry. Could be the sleeper pick in the region.)

BigPoppa's Central Region Top Ten: (My preseason ranking in parenthesis)

1. (1) Carthage : 24-0 (CCIW)
2. (3) Illinois Wesleyan: 19-5 (CCIW)
3. (5) Augustana: 20-6 (CCIW)
4. (NR) Westminster: 18-10 (SLIAC)
5. (NR) Coe: 18-10 (IIAC)
6. (6) Rockford: 15-9 (NathCon)
7. (8) Webster: 17-11 (SLIAC)
8. (NR) Concordia (WI): 15-7 (NathCon)
9. (2) Wartburg: 13-10 (IIAC)
10. (NR) Wheaton (IL): 16-9 (CCIW)

I am certain I will be hammered on the top three being from the CCIW, but until someone knocks them off, I see Carthage, IWU and Augie as the three best teams.

Westminster is a very bold and out there prediction. They finished either 3rd or 4th in the SLIAC last year..and you have them at 4th in the region, either you have some inside information or just really love westminster and hope they do well. They will not finish in front of webster, and maryville is returning 9 starters. so that already puts them into 3rd in most books.

and what are the numbers behind the teams?

If you check the dates of the post it was written last April.

I wish I could take credit for the negative karma, but it wasn't me. My response to your question was neither negative nor defensive. I am sorry you took it that way. I simply stated that the post you responded to was more than a year old and no longer valid for the 2009 season.

I am guessing that your attitude and demeanor will earn you much more negative karma in the coming days.

on another hand does any one know anything abou texas tyler this year? i know a couple of years back they had some recruiting violations (so i thought) so they couldnt compete in the post season tournaments and that year they were 40-0. i think it was 2 seasons ago. but not so sure. anyway does anyone know how they are looking this year?

I am not sure if it was recruiting issues or not but they year they started hot I think they were still a privisional member of  NCAA D3 baseball (Ralph will know the answer to this) and not eligible for post-season as a result. s.

You are correct: UT-Tyler moved from NAIA to D3 in 2003, so the teams were ineligible for post-season play during the required provisional membership period.  Click here for more information.

Oneandonly....come on man!  Recruiting violations????  They were a provisional member of DIII, like BigPoppa said.  You're like a high school girl throwing out rumors and opinions with no basis.  The coach at UT-Tyler is a stand up guy, so to even reference recruiting violations in the same sentence with UT-Tyler reflects negatively on their image.  Although, if someone realizes it was you who posted the comments, they won't regard any of it as factual anyway.
