A very productive day, yesterday. Except for Lancaster Bible, all of these were posted for the first time yesterday. (For LB, I just noticed that I hadn't included them with the other new programs.)

I forgot the newest mens team:

Randolph College

Formerly Randolph-Macon Womens College, playing independent this year before taking its place in the ODAC next year.

pabegg -  could you either post a list of the various provisional schools or an email site that I can see them.  I'm using last year's D3hoops school listings as a base and there are likely several provisional add ons.   I'm also curious as to how many years each school has had provisional status....   thanks for any help you can give....  (ie - I didn't realize Lancaster Bible was becoming D3).

To find the 2006-2007 list, got to ncaa.org, click on "About the NCAA" "Membership" "Division III" and look at the PDF file "Current Members of the Provisional and Reclassifying Member Program"

The 2007-2008 updates to this document haven't been done yet - you have to look at the membership committee meeting minutes to get them. But I've already done that, and posted the updates for 2008-2009 over on the "Future of D3" board, which I'll repeat here:

Year 4 moved to Active: Keystone, Texas Tyler, Tri-State, Green Mountain
Year 3 to Year 4: Crown, Maine Presque Isle, Mount Aloysius, Mount Mary, Penn State Berks, Minnesota Morris
Year 2 to Year 4 (skip Year 3): Bethany Lutheran, Northwestern, Purchase, Salem
Year 2 to Year 3: Mitchell, North Central (Minn.), Presentation
Repeat Year 2: La Sierra
Year 1 to Year 2: Lancaster Bible, Lyndon State, Saint Vincent, SUNY Morrisville
Start Year 1: Franciscan U of Steubenville, Geneva, Penn State Harrisburg, Spalding, St. Joseph's NY (presumably the Brooklyn campus), Birmingham Southern

Lincoln Christian has dropped from the list - there's no mention of the NCAA on their web site, so I assume they're out.
Minnesota Crookston has dropped (they were supposed to be starting this year) and looks like they're staying in D2.

Your mention of Lincoln Christian - They're in my home SLIAC conference - and playing a full 18 game conference schedule this coming season.  However, there were rumors that they are dropping out, I guess in 2008-09, and therefore out of NCAA provisional status too.   They were having a tough time fielding teams in other sports, but while the men's team lost most of their games, they posted competitive scores in conference games more often than not.

Thanks so much for the info on provisional schools.....

Ohio Wesleyan is playing in three good-looking tournaments (2006-07 records not* in parentheses):
* Nov. 17-18, University of Chicago Midway Classic: Chicago, Lake Forest, Trinity (TX), OWU
* Nov. 24-25, University of Rochester HIA Tournament: OWU vs. Baldwin-Wallace, Rochester vs. Cortland St.
* Dec. 28-29, Otterbein College "O" Club Tournament: Otterbein, Albion, Hanover, OWU

Eight of these 10 teams had winning records last season, while the other two (Albion and Cortland) each won 20 games the season before.

*EDIT:  heh, I forgot I took the records out because it cluttered up the post. ::)

finally got LeTourneau women's schedule up... still waiting on matchups for opening tournaments, but should be in soon.

Schools 228-231, remarkably all are complete, because none play in tournaments!

... and now the IIAC joins the race for first conference done, as only Loras is outstanding.

Sorry, DC, but I'm turning over a new leaf this year. From now on, I'm concentrating on tournaments that have a nice personality.

Seriously, I don't want to dampen anyone's enthusiasm with ANYTHING related to D3, but this is the Men's room - starting a trend of placing women's schedules in here only gets an old guy like me confused (I'll think Alverno has a men's team)  -  keep it to men's schedules  -  if interested in the ladys' schedule start a room over on the other side.

My impression after seeing Fisk's schedule is that they are no longer D3   -  is that correct?

That is incorrect. Fisk is still a Division III school and the schedule posted is complete as of 7-3-07.  We just are not playing a lot of Division III schools this year (only Huntingdon, Rust and D3,2b - Spalding).  We dropped Maryville from the schedule for reasons I need not go into here.

There has been some talk of going D2 by some Fisk officials (like Lincoln and Stillman did) but with the recent talk on splitting Division III into possibly 2 divisions and the moratium by the NCAA on movement between Divisions may have delayed further exploration of that issue for a brief period of time.
