Any one heard where is CF Matt Smith and RF Chris Pecora of NC Wesleyan?  I know Pecora played for Gateway Grizzlies last year but anyone know latest?

Players from last year who have been offered a contract by the MLB team(many are not and are released) will be reporting to Spring Training in the next day or two.
They will then compete with about 200 players for 100 roster spots on full season Milb teams.
Those rosters will be finalized around 4/1/09 and posted on Milb by the start of the season in Milb.
Until then, every one in a Minor league camp is playing for his baseball life and many will end around 4/1/09.

Zimmerman ran his perfect streak to 5 IP yesterday, albeit against a Mets lineup of mostly AAAA guys. But in his first outing against the Tigers, Z set down Guillen, Ordonez and Cabrera in order.

Zimmerman's spring line to date: 5 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 6 K.

Thanks for the heads-up. +k
To put a finer point on Jordan Zimmerman's spring numbers, he has allowed one ball out of the infield – eight groundouts, six strikeouts and one flyout.

Zimmerman threw yesterday against basically the same Mets lineup he tore through in his last outing (none of the Mets stars played). Still has not given up a run, but he now has a WHIP over .000. His line was 3.1 IP, 4 H (all singles), 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K.

JZ's spring line is now 8.1 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 10 K.

C Vinny Rottino (Wisconsin-La Crosse), played for Italy in the WBC. After sending Canada home Italy is now now out of it.

Rottino's Brewers line is 4 G, .250 (1/4) AVG, 2 R, 1 RBI
Rottino's Italy line was 2 G, .250 (1/4) AVG, 2B, K
Denorfia led Italy in just about every hitting category.

Yet another D3 guy in camp I missed is Methodist P Blake Maxwell (Red Sox). Thanks, "narch."

Maxwell's spring line: 1 G, 1 IP, SV, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K.

Osh,
Thanks for doing all of this.
A couple of updates:
The Menlo College website lists Jimmy Goethalls as returning as an assistant coach after completing his Milb career.
Nick Vera of Trinity, Tx is indeed in the Cardinals Milb camp competing for a spot as a 3B.  Nick is coming off a season ending injury early in the 2008 short season campaign when he was in Batavia.

Thanks. Do you have a link for the Goethals story? I only saw that he's back on the Menlo staff, although I'll admit to a lazy search.

I have my eyes peeled for Vera as well. Let me know if you see a link before I do. The link is the only holdup. I'll put him at the end with the reserved players for now.

If I missed a player or have incorrect info, please let me know. That goes for anyone out there. If you missed the breaking story, America's Finest News Source, The Onion, reported there was an error found on the Internet. And I don't want to be responsible for any further damage to the Internet's formerly pristine credibility.

Here is the link to the Menlo coaches:

I have a pretty good source on how Nick Vera is doing and will update when I hear something.
