I met a retired professor and coach from Holland MI. (He was a Simpson College alum) in Gulf Shores AL.

He was surprised that I knew that Hope College was in Holland MI.

He saw my McMurry "Indians" Baseball T-shirt. (It is a very old T-shirt.)

Hang on to it, Ralph!  I'm still a 'Huron', since the Hurons themselves wanted EMU to retain the name (despite the activists who were probably descended from enemies of the Hurons, or more commonly were whites feeling guilt, like my office mate ::)).

'Indians' is more a toss-up (though I recall you saying the local nations were all for it), but when the designation is tribal-specific, I would think they would have say-so.  My office-mate and the EMU President (who was shortly the ex-President, though not for that reason) did not agree.  The fact that the Huron (and Wyandotte - the Canadian affiliated tribe) both lobbied for the name to remain Hurons had no effect.  While I think opposition to 'Political Correctness' is usually a code for 'let us abuse niggers, wetbacks, camel jockeys, etc.', there are times where PC DOES go too far.

Trying not to get political, I would say that Mr Ypsi's perception is one of the reasons we have such division. To make a statement like that means you would rather demonize those with whom you disagree, rather than understand their actual thought process. Maybe if you believed that others were wrong, and not have evil intentions, we could come to some sort of understanding. Once you question others motives, you are basically cutting off all communication.

How's Round Rock in football?  Probably an asst. coach out recruiting! :D

Just saw an Averett University Alumni sticker on a car here in Auburn.

Mr. Ypsi, you know that everyone who plays football in TX is a stud.  ;)   There's good football here, there's not-so-good football here; it's not one of the hot spots like the D/FW or Houston areas but it's fertile ground for recruiting nonetheless.   Round Rock is one of the 'burbs just north of Austin.

Found a golf ball today at White Wing Sun City Georgetown Texas with logo "UMPI Owls." Took me awhile to figure out Maine-Presque Isle. I am a d3 geek.

A student (had him as a 9th grader) walking down the hall had a Pacific Football shirt on. He said is going there next year. Also saw a minivan yesterday with a George Fox University MOM sticker on it.

I was over at my father-in-law's retirement center yesterday, in Matthews NC, and the car parked next to me had decals for both Randolph-Macon Women's College and Randolph College. I didn't see the owner, but given where it was I'm guessing that she was a graduate when it was still RMWC and maintains her ties even after the name change.
