I can tell you, now the first round is over, I have no guilt cheering for IWU in the playoffs. IWU is a quality school, with quaility alumni and students. And I can, in fact, forgive at least half the students at IWU for not going to Wabash. :) As for the other half, well no one can make the right choice all the time.

Ironically, my second choice was Wabash.  (Third was DePauw, but I knew nothing about the Monon Bell at the time, so don't hold that against me! :D)

And, for me, I think I made the right choice. ;)  (Though my wife was a student of mine when I was a TA at Michigan, so maybe my undergraduate choice didn't really matter - I would have thought wherever I went was the right choice! :P)

I do know that I was better prepared for grad school at probably the #1 sociology
department in the country than most of my classmates, despite feeling rather insecure with my 'parochial' roots.  'Little schools' often rock! ;D

Mr. Ypsi,

I have told many, and it's the truth, that frickin' freshman english best prepared me to graduate.

Almost ended up in Vietnam because of it. Hardest damn year of classes I ever took. And as an idiot, I always took the same instructor because I figured he saw how hard I tried. Silly moi. (that's sort of french. A language I took for 4 years and can speak/write/read fluently. It was english I had trouble with.)  :D

At a 24 Hour Fitness in Triangle Square, Costa Mesa, CA, yesterday a HOPKINS shirt.
Signaled for the guy to take off his earphones and asked, "Johns?"
He smiled, "Yes."
I pointed to my shirt, no response.
Guy never heard of LINFIELD!

maripp2002...I live 6 miles from Chapman University and 1200 from LINFIELD so I go to their football games on top of the parking lot.
Oh, and an Occidental women's basketball game when OxyBob bribes me.

I wonder how much it would go for on ebay!   :D

Back in Ohio for the holidays I saw at the Columbus Airport a College of Wooster (not so surprising) sticker in the rear window of the car we followed into the parking garage, a Kenyon College (also not so surprising) tshirt on a young boy in the terminal and a Pomona College (surprising) sweatshirt on a woman three rows in front of me on my flight back to Phoenix.

This weekend I saw a Texas-Tyler baseball t-shirt on someone in the Montgomery County (PA) mall.

My dad said he past a woman in the grocery store (Lombard, IL) a couple of week ago, and she was wearing a Mount Union sweatshirt. He just happen to be wearing a Whitewater shirt under his coat.

He said he couldn't help but take his coat off when she walked by...I guess she got a kick out of it.

Gig Harbor Cat

saw an episode of Cops where the guy they got was wearing a PLU shirt--What a crack up

Last weekend for my trip to McMinnville, OR for the Linfield - UST game, I stayed with Linfield poster swede. His guest room is becoming a veritable museum of Linfield and D-III memoribilia. He has stuff from all of the NWC schools as well as St. Johns, Gustavus Adolphus, Hamline, & Concordia Moorhead of the MIAC. He has stuff from Wisconsin Whitewater, Beloit, Coe, Wartburg, Mount Union, Cal Lutheran and McMurry. This is just the stuff he has put out so far.

There was a kid getting in line for concessions at the St. Thomas-Linfield game wearing a Mt. Union hat.

Glad to see the vintage McMurry Alumni Association luggage tag with the Indian in ceremonial headdress displayed proudly!

Those are collectors' items now.
