Light bulb factory closes; End of era for U.S. means more jobs overseas

WINCHESTER, VA. - The last major GE factory making ordinary incandescent light bulbs in the United States is closing this month, marking a small, sad exit for a product and company that can trace their roots to Thomas Alva Edison's innovations in the 1870s.

The remaining 200 workers at the plant here will lose their jobs.

the ESPN High School Game of the Week, featuring Carver (GA) and LaGrange (GA).

D3 fans who have been to LaGrange GA will recognize the stadium as the home of the LaGrange Panthers.

The stadium is less than 1/2 mile south of the LaGrange campus, down Forrest Avenue.

We had that game on while I was bartending tonight. I glanced up at the screen and got excited thinking ESPN was actually showing a Division III game other than the Stagg Bowl. Unfortunately I quickly realized it was a high school game.

In the Cowboys-ChiBears game, the announcers showed a short clip of Cowboy TE Doug Cosbie.  An old film clip shows him coaching the TE's at Menlo College, back when they were one of ours.
