Yeah, ever since they left D-III, the program, especially men's basketball, has just not been the same.

Wow, where have I been, eh Ralph?  Thanks for the update.

So Pep accompanied 30 Alfred University students (including Saxon football players Andrew Small, Milton Harding, Vinson Hendrix, Jerry Bond, etal) on a Spring Break Collegiate Challenge trip to Florida where in three days the crew built a house from concrete slab to finished roof.

En route, the bus, its second day on the road, made a stop for lunch off Exit 49 of I-95 near Darien, GA. Pep walks into the KFC/Taco Bell along with some others and hears a young man say, "Go Saxons!" Pep went over and met one Ryan Dona, an Ithaca Bomber who played for Welch 2002-2005, going 4-0 against Pep's Saxons. Dona, now a resident of Charlotte, NC, was taking his brother to Daytona Beach for Spring Break.

Pep has been to that Habitat for Humanity store in Charlotte...where they've got a neat little coffee shop tucked in the corner. In fact, Pep's Alfred University Habitatters spent a night at a church youth house in Charlotte as arranged by the manager of said store. Pep Jr., an AU grad, teaches 6th grade math at Eastway Middle School in the "inner city" of Charlotte. A good number of Alfredians are transplanted in the Charlotte area.

Can I suggest to Pep that he start a new dictionary for "Words That Might Not Be Actual Words But Should Be"

First entries could be - Habitatters, and Alfredians

+k to you and your "Alfredian Habitatters.+

We should be glad that Pep has the luxury of using English to expand concepts through neologisms.

Such would not likely be the case with the Académie française.

Pep will need to consult his Funk & Wagnalls to figure out what the heck Pep has done now!

"Alfredian" has long been used for "a resident of Alfred, New York"
"Habitatter" is what Pep calls his AU student members of the campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity

And, as a matter of fact, Pep plans to prepare potatoes for a coming Habitat for Humanity fund-raiser, a food booth accompanying a silent auction art show in conjunction with Alfred University's Annual Senior Art Shows May 8. Pep has already used the term "Habi taters" for said potatoes.

The coffee shop, or more specifically the used book area attched to it, was our reason for being there. My wife likes to buy books from them and then donate back when she finishes them. And if your son teaches at Eastway he deserves hazardous duty pay. It may not actually be inner city geographically, but the overall vibe of the school couldn't be any moreso. Bravo to him for trying to make a difference.

I was stationed at Ft Monmouth, NJ back in the 70's with an Alfredian then. Don Mesick (I hope I remember the spelling). Good guy. I assume all Alfredians have similar endearing qualities.

Not sure if this fits here, but as I was driving home from work last night in downtown Roanoke, I saw a Keith McMillian clone stick his head out the window of the car next to me. (at least I assume it wasn't the real Keith)

Mind you, it didn't look like present-day Keith; it was Keith from, like, seven years ago. Looked kind of like the person in his D3 mugshot. ;D ;D

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.
