Lady Cavs travel to York, PA to play Baruch.  Baruch is 23-5 overall.  Only common opponent that I saw was Richard Stockton.  Baruch 75-64.  Cabrini 63-45.  Both teams played on the road.  So this could be a nice matchup for both teams.

What does anybody else think?  :D

Hey Kate,

Thought I saw at the Cavs/Gmc game up in the corner there but did not get to say hi.  Are the same Kate I think you are?  Good luck to your teams.  What are the odds the Lady Cavs get to the Sweet 16?

kate

Hello Wolfpac!  Was not at that game (i'm the old lady Kate  :D) The NCAA committee gave tough squads to all our local teams, Baruch is no exception.  With your Allentown Central Catholic connection, Alyssa, on your team you guys should more than hold your own.  She's really used to winning in that program.  Best luck & have FUN!

No 15 definitely makes a difference.  She knows where to be in the lanes on defensive and offense as well as rebounding.   She can get to loose balls and shoot from the outside.  The guys also have some ACC connections.  Hope one of the locals get to dance. See ya.

Good luck to all the CSAC teams, Gwynedd, Centenary and Neumann tomorrow night in the ECAC playoffs.  :)

As per the Cabrini website & the Express-Times, Coach Bernadette Laukaitis will be heading to the University of Pennsylvania as an assistant coach.  Good luck to Cabrini in bringing a new coach to the college.  It really makes one appreciate the coaches we have in place.

Why would anyone go for a demotion in coaching status? The Cabrini women's basketball program is on a roll. There has got to be other underlining reasons. It just doesn't make sense.

It is possible, however, that this could be a sign there is skepticism about next year, and she wanted to jump ship before things went downhill. It could just be she doesn't have the confidence in the upcoming group of seniors to defend the CSAC next year. After all, look at who they're loosing. Players like Brittany McLeod and Kayleen Smith are irreplaceable. The program is graduating a good few seniors that have contributed greatly. Granted they still have DiAmico and Brady, but it just won't be the same. Gwynedd, looks like you have a chance to retake what you lost two years ago. Maybe though; just maybe.

I don't want to say this is the reason, as I would hate for it to be true. It could be many more factors to (better paying, more benefits, etc.), but what can we do but only speculate. Good luck in your future job Bernadette.

Being an assistant at UPenn as compared to the head coaching position at Cabrini is not a demotion, it is a promotion. After time with UPenn, Coach Bernadette Laukaitis should have a lot more doors open for her. So, all of your blabbering about Cabrini in the future season is pretty much irrelevant.

kate

You Cabrini fans undoubtedly already know that Mike McLaughlin is the new U of P coach, & he coached at Holy Family with Coach Laukaitis as one of his assistants there.  So as a new coach at Penn, it makes sense that he would want to surround himself with people he knows, especially ones with winning  in their blood  ;)  U of P's record last season was 9 - 19, so they have some work to do.  Can Katie P, long time Scranton star take over?  Good luck!  After following the sport for 12 years now, i know it's NOT easy.  Hopefully this economy will pick up VERY soon!  That would certainly help.

I would have to agree with you Wydown.  How could you turn down a job as an assistant on a D1 program?  I definitely think this is a promotion for her.  I talked to Bernadette a couple of weeks ago about this and I think it is a very good thing for her.  Not only is it good for her professionally, it also has to be better financially(IMO).  If your aspirations are to coach at the highest level this is great for her.

Unfortunately.... (here it comes) being a head coach in D3, IMO, is not as lofty as being an assistant at a D1 school.  Also, when your mentor moves up in level and asks you to come on board that says a lot about Bernadette's credentials and her abilities.

BTW if the fact was that the '09-'10 team was going to go "downhill",  I believe she would have gotten the most of the players she has remaining and who is coming in to have a very successful year.  Really in D3 with students coming and going you don't always know how the year is going to turn out.  If you asked most people, including probably the coaching staff, with all the goings on over the last couple years and a new coach, would you have thought that the men's team would have won 20+ games and make it to the conference championship game?   So you never know.   :)

Good luck to her!  We wish her all the best!  :) :)

Time to bring back Bobbi Morgan who was the one who actually put all the pieces together. OH boy, get used to the Lady Cavs starting over again unless they get lucky recruiting.

Hope I am wrong, but face reality.  Good luck to Bernadette she is going where her heart belongs.

Get used to not seeing the playoffs on the Dixon Center floor for a long time. GMC will rule for the next 3 years unless the Cavs staff are serious about recruiting and establishing a system for developing a team around Brady who knows how to win.  (May not be that bad though).

Hey Mailsy..........getting worried about breaking the record for the most coaches at a D3 school in hoops over a 4 year period.  Times will get tougher for sure and we may have to celebrate over a plain old win instead of a championship.

jabstep08

Leaving a d3 job to take on an assistant coaching position at a d1 is a no brainer...she won the conference with some holdovers from the year before but it makes sense....they just have to keep their coaching staff off of facebook drinking..thats not good for recruiting or the school

I'm surprised at how many fans of D-III schools assume that a D-I asst. job is automatically better than a D-III head coaching position.

The person who says something can't be done shouldn't stand in the way of the one who's doing it.
