Me too, Lefty.  A lot depends on the school where they're headed.  Can't help but remember Bryan Whitten, ( i'm sure i misspelled his name, sorry Bryan), but he was so great at King's as their head coach.  Everyone enjoyed his coaching style & he was very well liked in the league.  Haven't heard a peep about him since he went first to VCU as an assistant & right now i'm not sure where he is.  i'm sure wherever he landed he's still well liked, but WHERE is he?  It will be interesting to see how U of P does in the next few seasons.

Things are always look green or more green on the otherside.  Including the greenbacks.

In this case I believe she wanted to be with her mentor though but in general the lure of D1 is irresistable with the atmosphere of the potential fame or glory. The default is a resume packed with d1 credentials like driving a bus or watching films to impress those rookie athletic directors.

You hit the nail on the head Kate when you said "a lot depends on the school where they're headed".

Oh boy is it frustrating at Cabrini with all the coaching changes.

He's the head coach at Division I Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Md.

Thank you, Pat.  Go Mount St. Mary's!  There are a ton of variables that go into where a person coaches:  D1, D2, or D3.  Age of coach, mobility of coach, financial responsibilities of coach;  we could go on & on here with this.  i, too, hope that Cabrini finds a person who fits well with the school & the players.  Believe me, once again, i truly appreciate the people DVC has in place - Good luck to Cabrini!

Yikes, how could i not have known where Coach Whitten was - this past season they beat my home town Lafayette Leopards - Holy smokes, i'm losing it  :-[

Good for her.

Did they do a campus-wide search?
The person who says something can't be done shouldn't stand in the way of the one who's doing it.

If Kate P. can coach like she played, then Cabrini basketball is in good hands; she was one tough competitor.

Just want to add my congratulations to Kate Pierangeli Pearson as Cabrini's new head coach.  It really seems like yesterday that we were watching her play for Scranton.  Boy, it makes us feel old  :)

How about that?  ND cancelled the season.  How do you think this will effect the conference.  Will all their games count as forfeits?  Will every team get one win with the South getting 2 automatic win or will they not count the forfeits in the standings.  Any ideas?  ???

Can't say for sure, but you'd think they just wouldn't bother adding anything to the standings, since Notre Dame hadn't played a conference game yet. Their games are not forfeits for NCAA purposes, and typically a conference will only count something like this in the conference standings as a forfeit if it's to "balance the standings" (i.e. if Notre Dame had already played several conference games).  Since they had just played the one non-conference game, I imagine they will be dropped from the standings entirely.

That makes sense.  However, it is going to wreck havoc over playoff standings.  Since the North is going to play 15 conference games(2x against North and 1x against South) and the South teams are only going to play 14(2x against South and 1x against North) this is going to be difficult for some teams who are on the "bubble" to make the playoffs.  Are they going to use percentages?  An interesting dilemna for 2009-10 season.  But that's why you have to love D3 BBall.  :)

Don't know if this will help... but all teams in the conference will get "wins" against Notre Dame when it comes to conference record... but those games will be considered "no-contests" in the eyes of the NCAA and overall record (i.e. tournament consideration).
