And now we know where they're going. https://njacsports.com/news/2024/7/2/general-suny-new-paltz-to-become-a-full-member-of-the-njac-in-2026-27.aspx

Oh crap. That messes up the recently formed Coastal Lacrosse Conference. I will need time to sort through what all this means. The NJAC and the CLC will have 4 teams each. I'm not sure what that means in the eyes of the NCAA.

Now that SUNY New Paltz is becoming a full member of the NJAC, does that lessen psychological barriers to allowing schools such as CNU, Salisbury and Mary Washington into the NJAC?

(Pratt is leaving the C2C. UC Santa Cruz, Mount Mary and Warren Wilson are unique cases on their own.)

Maybe it's an over-active sense of imagination but all these conference moves always has me wondering what the next domino to fall will be. The NJAC expanding beyond the state lines combined with exiting relationships with the CNU-Mary Washington-Salisbury triad (2 as affiliate members in football, this Coastal Lacrosse Conference thingy) sure lets the mind go wild with possibilities!

Ziggy,

It does make you wonder. However, I believe the key is in the NJAC announcement where they mention that overnight travel is not an issue with New Paltz. It is an issue with CNU and UMW. I just don't see it happening. The NJAC, other than football, does not need SU, CNU or UMW (non football school). If a couple of NJAC schools started football to increase enrollment and the reached the AQ limit without CNU and SU....bye bye!
