Watching the Millsaps video and listening to the UWW audio - audio is a little ahead of the video, but not a bad deal.  Millsaps 5 UWW 4 in the bottom of 5.
Millsaps has broadcast all of their games this year.

Kinda spoils us, doesn't it!

9:50 pm CDT and 156 fans are watching the video-stream of the Millsaps-Carthage game!

It has been a great game!

Carthage has scored 3 in the bottom of the 8th to go ahead 6-5.

Millsaps had an uncharacteristic meltdown.

They gave up 8 runs on 5 hits and 3 errors.  There was one man LOB in Carthage bottom of the 8th.

Going to the 9th, Carthage leads 12-5.  (Six runs are unearned.)

Millsaps fails to score in the 9th.

Final -- Carthage 12, Millsaps 5.

Frank- I am surprised more teams do not use the video feed from games. This is the perfect Saturday night... a few drinks and a Carthage/Millsaps game on the laptop... and a little Men at Work as buffer music. Perfect night.

Millsaps has committed three errors in the 8th inning (five overall) and Carthage has made them pay. Currently 12-5 Carthage... still batting.

If Carthage can hang on, they will be tough to beat tomorrow.

It's my guess that Millsaps will have Drew Maddox and Tait Hendrix as the starters tomorrow.  Don't count them out on getting to Monday and in a one game situation anything can happen.

One has to wonder if things would have been different if Millsaps had played at 1 and gotten extra rest.  Maybe that had nothing to do with the meltdown at the end or maybe it was the deciding factor, especially with Aaron and Boomer coming back in to pitch after splitting the duties of the 4 o'clock game.  However, if it made a difference, it was extra rest earned by Carthage during the season as they played well enough all year to be a #1 seed.

While this now puts Millsaps on a more difficult path to the World Series, they still are capable of coming all the way back and winning three straight.  For now, they just need to win tomorrow at 1.

The winner of the first game (UWW vs Wartburg) has to win 3 on Sunday just to make it to a final game on Monday, winner getting their ticket punched to Grand Chute.  What could be more difficult than that?  :-\  Playing without a shortstop? or the centerfielder?

On the Millsaps webcast last night they mentioned the schedule and how it conflicted with the rulebook for an NCAA Regionals.  It was just a brief mention so this might not be exactly right, but they said a team can't be made to play 3 games in one day.  The impression I received was that if the winner of the 10 o'clock game won at 1, then they could choose to play a DH for the championship on Monday instead of having to play a third game of the day on Sunday.

I don't know the specifics on this and it wasn't discussed in great detail.  It what they said and what I think I heard are accurate, then Carthage may not play today unless it is Millsaps that they are playing at 4.  If the rule does say that a team has such an option, it would be stunning if a team would elect to play 3 on Sunday while knowing that to win the regional they would still have to play on Monday.

Usually, the NCAA prohibits teams from playing three times in one day in the NCAA Tournament.  Has the committee lifted that restriction to account for the weather delays?

From Augustana web site:

NCAA rules do not allow a team to play three games in one day during the NCAA Baseball Tournament. If the winner of Game 8 between Wartburg and Wisconsin-Whitewater should beat Millsaps on Sunday afternoon, the Game 10 matchup with Carthage will be pushed back to 11 a.m. Monday morning, with Game 11, if necessary, to follow at 2 p.m. If Millsaps wins Game 9, it will face Carthage as scheduled at 4 p.m. Sunday.

WARHAWKS take down Millsaps 10-4.   Matchup with Carthage tomorrow.  The two teams split a pair earlier in the season while in Florida.
