I gotta believe Carthage is looking for a little payback from that 3 TD pasting it took at the hands of the Warhawks last May 15th!!   ;)

Here's 2 articles from the paper. The first is about Carthage's 2 victories Saturday, and the 2nd a preview for Today's matchup with UWW.  Augie mentions in the first article that there was a lot of talk that Millsaps was much better than them, and he's happy that Carthage proved they can play with them...Word has it Whitewater is going with the same pitcher that stuck to Carthage in Florida back in March in game 1 today.

That would be Aaron Dott, who GBMAN speculated on earlier.   ;)  He shutout Carthage 9-0 on 4 hits back in March.  I believe Carthage also had something like 11 errors in the two games these two teams split in Florida...

Regardless who the pitcher is for UWW, he's going to have to do a yeoman's job as Carthage is really swinging some hot lumber!!

Thanks for the info.  If WW wins the first game, it'll be interesting to see who Carthage throws the second game.  Jordan threw 6 innings Thursday, so I'd assume he could be ready today on 3 days rest.  Who knows though, the top 3 have gotten a week off between starts the past 2 months.  I'd have to guess that's who they'd go with.  I believe the plan is to start freshman pitcher Rohe in game 1.  Now that its 9 and both teams are probably at the ball park already, it should be fine to share this information  :P

Well Whitewater leads 4-2 as they head to the bottom of the 8th inning.  I will say that if Whitewater can hold on, I am not surprised that Dott was able to beat Carthage.  However I can't see Whitewater winning Game #2.  Carthage will be able to come back with one of their studs on the mound, while Whitewater will be short-handed.

This scenario has been my fear since I realized they would not play yesterday. Can Carthage rebound form the loss and make a run into Appleton? They should have their #1 or #2 ready to go for the game and I have no idea who UWW will run out there.
Baseball is not a game that builds character, it is a game that reveals it.

Man, I was really hoping they'd pull out the first game.  I gotta teach the last 2 periods then coach baseball, I'm going to be a nervous wreck the next 3 hours!!

WW could go with Williams Lovera (3-1, 4.23 ERA).   Hooper may be able to give them a few innings also.   It's likely to be pitching by committee.

Good Call BW!!!!

Lovera should be fresh since he hasn't thrown in over a week, so maybe he could give Whitewater a solid start.
