Mr. YPSI....I'd be willing to bet that Pankau will be on the bump tomorrow for the Titans.  He'd be working on 3 days rest and he only threw 100 pitches on Wednesday.....he'll be out there.

Mr. Ypsi

BV gets two insurance runs in the top of the ninth, wins 11-6.

Next up (about 40 minutes away): Webster vs. BV.

Thanks.

Where are you finding the pitch counts - I can't seem to locate that info?

Mr. Ypsi

With two out in the bottom of the first, BV has already knocked out Webster's starter!  Five runs in, and a man on third.

There may have been a reason BV was the top seed! ;)

Mr. Ypsi

New Webster pitcher Gebhardt quickly douses the fire, but 5-0 after one.

Mr. Ypsi

The rout may be on?

A walk, an error, a single, two wild pitches, and a ground out gives BV three more runs, with one out in the bottom of the second.  Kind of looks like Webster may have run out of pitching.

Mr. Ypsi

Webster came back from down 11-1 after 4 to get to 11-8 in the middle of the 7th, but BV answered with 2 more.  Now 13-8 entering the 8th.

Mr. Ypsi

Webster went 1,2,3 in the top of the 8th.

Tomorrow's match-up may be a rerun of Wednesday's pitching duel.

Mr. Ypsi

BV wins, 13-8.

Tomorrow at 11, IWU vs. BV.

I was just basing that off of what CCIWFan6 had said about Pankau's pitch count....he had something about him throwing about 100 pitches.

OK, thought maybe you had some insider knowledge, or a source I hadn't found.

I'm guessing game 10 will be a rerun of the pitchers' duel from Wednesday - Pankau vs. Probasco.  Hopefully there will be no game 11! ;)

IWU will send senior Paul Kabbes (2-4, 4.22 earned run average) to the mound today with ace Jason Pankau ready for relief or a possible second game. IWU and Pankau beat Buena Vista, 2-1, in a first-round game on Wednesday.

Mr. Ypsi

They're underway in Moline, and Kabbes shuts them down in the first.  Let's see if the Titans can solve Probasco, now that they already saw him on Wednesday.

Mr. Ypsi

IWU missed out on a HUGE first.  A single, walk, and two more singles produced a run and the bases still loaded with no outs.  But Hopp hit into a DP, then Grodecki popped out.

Still, they got as many runs in the first as they got the whole game on Wednesday!

IWU 2, BV 0, end of one.

Mr. Ypsi

A walk and four singles in the bottom of the third, and IWU takes a 5-0 lead.

Kabbes has only yielded one hit (a single in the first) in three innings.
